Mmmmm-tamales-I love them, but hubby does not. I do so wish this storm would be over-there are errands we both need to run, but I know that the water is over the bridge on the creek up the road. Even if the rain stopped right now (which it is not doing), the only vehicle we could get to the main road in is my 4X4-the water will take several hours to recede from the bridge.

I know the high water on the road routine far too well to scoff at your situation..

After reading many, many recipes for tamales, I've figured out why so many dislike them...........they think tamales are those spicy concoctions found in a can and have no clue what a real tamale tastes like. They're time consuming to make - but to me worth every bit of it!!!!

A friend of mine and I make tamales near Christmas-it is a tradition here at that time of year-hubby 's dislike of tamales extends to other things, too-he doesn't like meat wrapped up in anything, like pot pies or sausage rolls but will eat a sandwich or hot dog-I've never figured out what that was about...

LOL!!!!!

It was hubby's stories about tamales at Christmas time when he was living in Pheonix and then Houston that got me into looking at recipes for them. At first I only made them around the holidays - but I got so hooked on them that I have a tendency to make them at anytime of the year now.

Last year my friend and I didn't make tamales because she had company from out of state and I had a job I needed to finish-we plan to make them this December, though.

I shouldn't have typed it that way. That's the way I and my buddies deliberately mispronounced "bilingual" to be funny. It was a lot funnier the first time, and after a lot of beer.

My home computer is now working again. So I can annoy my Free Republic pals at any time of day or night. Yay.
