I remember seeing that jackass Ed Harris (and others) at the awarding of the lifetime achievement to Elia Kazan refusing to stand or even applaud in recognition of a remarkable career. As George Will commented at the time, "One has to wonder if Hollywood would have rendered the same indignation if the names Kazan had named had belonged to Nazis." A more appropriate comparison has never been made.

In the present, I tend to think the association between Hollywood Lefties and the Democrat party hurts them far more than it helps. It's pretty difficult to pretend you're not "way out there" when you associate with people who say the kinds of things Sean Penn, Richard Dreyfuss, Julia Roberts, et alhave so publicly to say.
