I would like to know what some of your favorite charities are and why.
The Scleroderma Foundation http://www.scleroderma.org/
My daughter has it, and we'd both be thrilled if they found a cure or at least better treatment. We're rather disgusted that breast cancer gets to much attention, while so many other diseases that affect women are ignored.
Thanks. Looks like a good site.
I have a detailed giving plan which is modified each year. My husband & I give 12-15% of gross income. One of best charities is Food for the Poor. If you want more info on this or others, I will gladly interact on private post.
ANY contribution to Diabetes research or treatment. Any donation to bonified Veterans' admin.
Another good site: www.charitynavigator.com
My favorite charity is the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Not only does it attempt to reunite kidnapped children with their custodial parents, it works hard to protect children from online predators.
Josiah Vandertulip was an Army specialist killed in Iraq in October. His family has established an endowed scholarship in his name. Contributions can be made by calling Elizabeth Philipp, executive director of the Irving (TX) Schools Foundation, at 972-215-5006.
Even $50-100 would be great. I realize there are a lot of worthwhile charities.
The "Send Boris to Hawaii for Easter Campaign".
Or the "Samiam needs to hire someone to stop the water from flooding into her basement everytime it rains" fund is good, too! Just kidding! I give to Food For The Poor, also. Great charity! There are so many to choose from so good luck in your search! :-)
Salvation Army. My home was destroyed in a flood. Completely destroyed.
They were there with us for weeks. They never let us pay for food or supplies. They said, "When you are back on your feet, you can donate then, IF YOU WISH."
They were wonderful. They helped us salvage what little we could and it was not pleasant work to dig through rotting junk, bugs and creatures.
But they were there and did it cheerfully. Everyday.
We have donated money to several of the organizations that are helping the military. Here are two I believe in the most.
Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation (MCLEF): 100% of every donated goes to the children & familes of those killed in Iraq & Afghanistan. Rush Limbaugh is one of the directors.
Homes for Our Troops: Money goes toward building homes for those most severely injured/disabled veterans coming home from Iraq/Afghanistan.
hehehe...thanks for the chuckle...
