Yesterday I dropped my two cats off at the vet so they could have their teeth cleaned this morning. A couple of hours ago the vet called me. He said my cat Punkin had serious problems while under the anesthesia. He said his lungs had collapsed. They had him tubed and were breathing for him but said if they pulled the tube he would die.
I rushed over there to say my good-bye's. Surprisingly, by the time I got there he was doing some of the breathing on his own and the vet gave him a 20% chance. A little while later he removed the breathing tube with the understanding that he would most likely be unable to breathe and we would have to put him out of his misery.
Well, he woke up. He's unable to expel the air fully and there is air all over his body. The top of his head, under the skin, had air in it, and it was like that all over, but he was a heck of a lot better than anyone thought he would be.
A couple of hours ago he was definately going to die, then it was a 20% chance, and now his chances are a little better, but still he's very, very sick and has less than a 50% chance.
I'm afraid to get my hopes up but I do love the little bugger very much. If Arafat can live and die and live and die, then maybe my cat can too. He's younger, better looking and much more loveable!
If you're so inclined, please pray for my Punkin. Thanks.
Will do, Miztiki.
I'll pray for Punkin. Hope Arafat bites the dust soon!
Moral of the story...cat with dirty teeth live longer.
:)
Hope your cat gets better and soon! They are like family!
God bless poor little Punkin! I just had my cat's teeth cleaned since he had big infections there, but luckily no problems. I will pray for your baby.
As the partner of at least forty cats (one housecat, rest are farm ratters) I'll say a word to the Man upstairs. You know his eye is on the sparrow but I know he watches over Punkin too.
I'm so sorry - poor Punkin! I will pray for your little cat too.

Prayers sent, I know how I'd feel if my cat were in Punkin's position...
Seriously, good luck to you. Praying that he makes it.
BTW, whether you meant to or not, you gave me a good chuckle with the Arafat references.....
From one cat lover to another, our prayers are with you.
We just lost one of our family members to an accident (yes, it was a cat) and the hole in our hearts were too great. We had to do something to take our minds off of "Fishie." I looked at another litter of kittens with the intention of bringing one home and ended up with 2 more.
We still miss Fish, but the days are getting better.
We hope Punkin makes a miraculous recovery and just in case he doesn't.....Fishie is waiting in heaven for him and will show him around. (=^.^=)
Thank you all very much. It helps.
Hope yer kitty gets an Arafat bounce on life....
You bet I'll pray for your cat. Sounds like he has a punctured lung. What did the doctor say about it?
My three kitties, Sherbet, Sawdust and Cinders are all hoping for the best for your Punkin. And so am I.
I hope Punkin has a couple of his 9 lives left to use - sounds like he's earned it.
Just be sure the next time Punkin gets his teeth cleaned, you get the Swiss Bank Account numbers from him first.
Punkin looks just like a cat we had name Robart. I hope Punkin makes it. Do you live on Tiki Island on Galveston Bay?
