Books that teach children American History (without the left points of view)

Posted on 11/10/2004 5:14:06 AM PST by GodBlessUSA

Hello My son loves history. When he was in Jr. high he was teaching me history. I asked him how he knew all of these facts and he replied, I read next years history book, it's in the library.

I have read some liberal propaganda in some of these history books from school. Either information is left out or they leave comments to the imagination. I remember reading in one of his books about Presidents. I read about President Ronald Reagan and they gloss right over his true successes with brief mentions.

I would love to find an American History book that tells the stories with truth and pride in America. No propaganda. If this is at all possible. I have looked on Amazon but I’m just not sure who the writers are. It will also assist me teaching my youngest (7) child the facts in a positive way. Is there a good book for younger children too? Anyone know of such a book or books? I think they will make great Christmas gifts. Thank you so much for the help!

Forgive me if I don't post this properly. :)

Great post! I too would be interested in a book list of left-less history books, especially for kids.

"America Land I Love in Christian Perspective" by A Beka Books

My son is a home schooled 8th grader and we love this book! It begins with the exploration to the "New World" and ends with a summary of Bill Clinton as President - not necessarily mean, but not flattering..........;^)

Oh - I apologize - I didn't include you in my comment - please see #4 - ABeka books are sold individually or as a set from the Ministry of Pensacola Christian College.

I have been impressed with every ABeka Book I have ever purchased.

Ronald Regan's Autobiography, An American Life is excellent. Find a copy of that for him. We also have Abeka history books. Google homeschool history curriculum.

If he's in HS now, I'd think he would be ready to read "adult books" like Ann, Newt, Rush, Hannity etc., they are full of history lessons.

The Light and the Glory series by Peter Marshall.

1. The Light and the Glory - From discovering through Rev War.

2. From Sea to Shining Sea- Rev War up to the Alamo

3. 3rd book goes to WWII I believe. I can't remember the name.

I believe that they are currently writing a 4th book that should be out soon. Also the first two books have a children's version.

The best histories of the United States that I have read is Clarence B. Carsons "A Basic History Of The United States"; a five volume set, detailing the history of the Colonial Years to the formation of the modern welfare state, starting with FDR.

The books were published in the mid '80's; and have not been revised since then, BUT there is REAL history here, not some LIBERAL REVISIONISM. The author was a true Conservative...

I bought these paperback books in the early '90's from the Conservative Book Club.. they are simply excellent. Just the thing for any homeschooling family.

I looked for 'em on the Net; here is one site where the set can be ordered =

Thank you so much! I will be looking into these books. It will be great for me as well as the kids. I knew Freepers would be in the know.

Hey, my post warrented a troll or two. Wow :) I wish I could have seen their comments. I'm sure the comments were as ignorant as they are.
