I am conflicted about the upcoming film "Meet the Fockers." While I really enjoyed "Meet the Parents" and eagerly awaited the sequel, discovering that Barbara Streisand has been cast as Gaylord Focker's mother has sickened me in such a way that I will refuse to see it.
As the cultural war has intensified and the battle lines etched deeper, I find myself incapable of getting past my disdain of these America hating, liberal celebrities. I just can't do it anymore.
As a result, I won't see a film I was really looking forward to. Laura Ingraham is a good example of someone who can put her personal feelings about celebrities aside and still enjoy their creative output. For instance, she wrote an entire book castigating loud mouthed celebrities, but she remains a devoted fan of Pearl Jam and Eddie Vetter.
As for me, I cannot differentiate any longer, and sadly, my list of "Never Again" entertainers grows by the day. I am interested in hearing how other freepers handle this dilemma. Can you put aside your disdain aside and enjoy the entertainment for what it is or are you, like me, incapable of differentiating anymore?
Loved the first one- won't see this one if Babs is involved. And I actually have a very high tolerance for loony-celebs. It's just that BS goes over the line with me.
If you don't find Barbara Streisand entertaining, then what is the point of trying to be entertained by her?
(2) Boycotting these idiots is the only thing that works. I won't be giving them any more of my money.
You are not alone.. I for one have given up on hollywood entertainment...in fact quite a while ago... there is a life beyond movies.....
um, download the movie on the internet for free? If it wasn't illegal, that would be the perfect solution. Next best, wait until it comes out on video, and watch it when your buddy rents it.
Nope. Can't watch Barbra Streisand, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Sean Penn, Jessica Lange, or Alec Baldwin anymore. Don't miss 'em, either.
Streisand is a natural for this role. She's the mother, right?
Looks to me they misspelled the last name of Streisand's character.
Its a no-brainer for me. I hate Ben Stiller with a passion. Never seen a more un-funny "comedian" in my life. His movies all suck. If he weren't bad enough, the presence of the odious Babs Streisand would keep me from seeing this movie. I hope it bombs big time - like a Ben Affleck movie.
In short, I dont what to do either?
Let's flip this around. Suppose George W. Bush, Rush Limbaugh, Condi Rice, Sean Hannity, Donald Rumsfeld, John Ashcroft and Ann Coulter all got together and staged a production of Hamlet. Do you imagine that Michael Moore or Tim Robbins could sit through it without being irritated?
Maybe you are just no longer in the "circle of trust". ;^)
I absolutely, positively will NOT watch anything with Babs in it (nor Alec Baldwin nor Sean Penn, nor...you get the idea)
deal with it.
Disagree. Saw "Zoolander" a couple of weeks after 9/11 and Stiller really cheered me up.
Of course, he's no Adam Sandler.....
I really liked Jon Bon Jovi but I will never watch him again because of his support of Kerry. Laura was right they should just shut up and sing.
