Word For The Day, Day, Date

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

peripatetic

\Per`i*pa*tet"ic\, a.

1. Walking about; itinerant.

2. Of or pertaining to the philosophy taught by Aristotle (who gave his instructions while walking in the Lyceum at Athens), or to his followers. ``The true peripatetic school.'' --Howell.

adj : traveling especially on foot; "peripatetic country preachers"; "a poor wayfaring stranger" [syn: wayfaring] n 1: a person who walks from place to place 2: a follower of Aristotle or an adherent of Aristotelianism [syn: Aristotelian, Aristotelean, Peripatetic]

Etymology: [Middle English peripatetik, from Latin peripatticus, from Greek peripattikos, from peripatein, to walk about, or from peripatos, covered walk (where Aristotle allegedly lectured) : peri-, peri- + patein, to walk; see pent- in Indo-European Roots.]

Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Reminds me of a recent quote from Gen. Tommy Franks:
"They'll run out of terrorists long before we run out of bullets."

I think it is safe to say that Arafat will not be peripatetic any time soon but he is still not dead.

The rumor is that he has aids.

I do not believe doctors do not know what is wrong with Arafat. He is dying of something, it must be pretty bad to not be able to tell us the truth.

As a formerly great party wanders
in a peripatetic haze
it ponders running PIAPS.
