She is from Illinois and only lived in Arkansas for a while. People in the South are very biased against anyone with a eastern or maybe western accent.

Southerners I know (I'm one myself) are not biased against those with regional accents other than their own, but are suspicious of arrogant and pretentious people regardless of their accents.
She will take on the mantel of mid-west/southern and will hang a "I have Values" sign around her neck as fast as she put on a Yankees hat to prove she is a Noo Yawker! Be Afraid--very afraid.
