"The key point to me is the media would bend to the orders of Mellman and Whouley rather than report what the the actual returns proved. It is obvious that Fox bought the spin too. After declaring Ohio they refused to give Bush one of the other sure victory states and declare Bush the victor."

I think that the single most disappointing thing on election night, was watching Brit Hume go off the air without calling the race.

Tator and Jane...I remember a comment Brit Hume said at around 2 am....that I thought as odd when he said and now it makes sense.

He said..."Fox would not be making any more calls for Bush until the picture became more clear.

Now the comment makes sense......Fox bowed to the DNC.

So good to see you back and hear of boys. <> LOL What memories. Youngest boy was mid teens when took a spurt of growth. One day caught myself disciplining about sass. Was standing on tiptoes, grabbing onto his shoulder for balance, reaching up with bar of soap to rub over braces while saying "hold still, keep your mouth open wider and don't you ever, ever sass me again" In the middle of this exercise the absurdity struck me and I dissolved into laughter. Sometimes it's hard to be a strict disciplinarian. Probably today be thrown into jail for child endangerment. I could hardly reach his teeth.

Someone on another thread just said something that rather enlightened me. He said that the purpose of skewed exit polls is to delay calls. If exit polls and actual results line up, calls are made early and confidently. When actual results are different than exit polls, there is no confidence in making the call.

I do find the media to blame in all of this, but I have to admit that the faulty exit polls, especially with numbers being fed from the Kerry campaign, gives them a bit of an excuse to delay their calls for Bush.

It was a slow drive home because I was driving my historical 1969 240Z with a competition clutch. I drove home in second gear. No shifting (NO CLUTCH!!!! PLEASE!!!). Difficult to drive above 45....Not that we were interested in taking country road bumps that fast....

Roscoe stared at me while I lounged on the couch for a week. He couldn't believe what I'd done. Fortunately, he was a dog, and didn't get a vote....

He died, many years later, and counts as one of the best dogs I ever had.

I have lost quite a bit of respect for the entire Fox organization. Trust once lost is hard to regain, and that is the position Fox finds themselves with me.

I am SO disappointed in Brit Hume. Apparently he hasn't the backbone I thought he had.

Tator is right. I believe nothing I read or hear without several independent verifications.

I think I will sell my Fox stock and buy something less corruptible. Maybe Halliburton....HA!

Oh yes I do remember that moment, and if I didn't, I got an earful of it from my sister last night. She is furious at Fox News. Years ago it was her husband who first introduced our family to Fox News. BUT she told me that he was getting up in the middle of the night Tues, every hour......to check FREE REPUBLIC!

(Though he's heard about us endlessly from me over the years, by the surprise that she registered, I think that was the first time he relied on us.)

Last week on the day Ron Zook's firing was announced our local sports show forgot almost everything else and talked with great speculation about the possibility of Steve Spurrier coming back.

Today they checked in with a guy from Gainesville who said that Spurrier was interested in the job, but the president of the university would not just give him the job. He apparently thought there should be a protocol to these things and others should be considered.

Spurrier didn't want to wait around and go through that process so he withdrew. I think the Florida faithful will be all over that president.

Now the speculation is that Spurrier may end up with the Dolphins. I can't see his pride letting him leave the NFL without some success so this might make sense.

Good evening. I trust all is well with you.

I know someone who has access to the Dolphin front office. In summary, it's highly unlikely that Spurrier will get the job if Wandstat is fired.

T'is a bad year in Fishville. 8^(

There must be plenty of speculation about Wanstadt being fired, right? Any idea who would replace him?

Rickie Williams will never wear a Dolphins uniform again, will he?

Fox had the chance to slam dunk this one.

But they didn't.

I still watch FoxNews, as they are the lesser of the evils in the MSM. However, I am much more selective about WHICH programs I watch.

Fox and Friends is good for some light-hearted stuff in the morning while getting ready for work. I have alot of respect for Linda Vester, and her show. I like SEAN, he has never sold out.O'Reilly is a joke, he was really slanting towards Kerry until he found out he wouldn't appear on his program.

This is all stuff that CT has told me time and time again. I have my own opinions, but I think more with my heart. He thinks with his head, and thank goodness I have him to help me sort all this out! He knows the news media so well, as he has been there. All I know is that I will continue to get the truth here on Free Republic.

I don't know who would be on the short list. I don't know if Huizenga (sp) even has a short list. But one thing is for sure...

Rickie Williams will never wear a Dolphins uniform again,...

Can you imagine the cry of bias and "trying to effect the outcome," by the MSM if Fox had called the win for Dubya and none of the other networks followed suit...Then Kerry calls out the moveon.org protesters and litigation and questions of illegitimacy for 4 more years? I think Fox made the right decision as did Dubya by letting Kerry concede. Fox did not want to be the only station calling it for Dubya...it would have hurt their ratings. I think that ratings should be Fox's #1 concern, not calling the race for one party or the other.

UF better get used to UM, aka Urban Meyer. If Spurrier turned them down, either he is content to stay on the links, or doesn't have the fire in him anymore. I think it's the latter. You could see he was losing the magic in his last couple of seasons, and his foray into the NFL was a disaster. Unless the Dolphins throw a wad of cash in his face, I think he's done with coaching.
