Well, we can do some of that...
But I want to get Dad some little trees for his train set, he has no scenery, just the train... and I can't tell whether they look real or not in the pictures... Some look like little greed turds on a stick. I want to see them in person. :~D

Yeah, for the scenery, you do need to see it in person. Helps with the scale, that's for sure!

I remember being fascinated by miniatures for doll houses and train sets when I was little. There are some amazingly accurate miniatures out there!

The family project we are planning for Christmas is to landscape and then add onto an old N scale set we have. Many years ago one Christmas my parents gave the set to us. They had spent a month or two of late nights building it in their bed room and we were totally shocked. 'N' is a very small scale and they had made an very cool layout on a roughly 6'x8' board. Many years after that bugs destroyed most of it when it was in storage. We rebuilt a lot of it but the landscape is still blank Styrofoam. Now that the folks new house is done we are going to finish it up right for when grand kids come over (hah! Dad will probably play with it the most).
For my family it is not a real vacation unless we under take some massive project like renovating part of whoever's house we are at. I joke that when I have the money and the land I will buy a big pile of wood and invite everyone over for a week and they will build me an entire house. I think I will need a wife and kids before any of them come to visit though, so that plan is on hold :(
