You're not Scrooge-ish at all!

I am lucky to come from a family of great gift givers, and we never hint. I can't stand giving or getting something that was on a list of wants, we give a few hints sometimes, but I never answer the question "so what do you want for Christmas?"

My family gives great stuff more often than not. And those that have money spend it. We are pretty fair, not having any rules like some families, and I think there is an understanding that we aren't equally able to spend. Last year, ecurbh and I really had ~no~ money. This year, we're better, but only a little.

I hope this year, you get your drill bits :~D

We've actually done better in the years when money has been tight. It makes us think more and expect less.

Part of our problem now is that we're just not organized enough to deal with shopping before the production is over, so we hit panic mode.

This year, we have managed to put Luke's "big ticket" item on layaway, and we know what we're getting Jr. And, since my Mom is coming to see the show on Saturday and we're not likely to see her again before Christmas, we have their present as well.

We keep saying we'll be better organized next year. And, in spite of all the crap that we've dealt with in the past couple of years, we actually are better organized in some areas. But we're not ahead of the game on present buying. So we get down to the last week and spend more money with less thought. That's the part I really just don't like.
