Um, actually... I know Windows stuff enough. Getting thrown into the deep end of Unix, with people expecting me to have a clue, would be bad.
Yah, but sometimes getting thrown in the deep end is a good way to learn.

I dunno much about Unix, but what I did learn was primarily from a temporary duty assignment where I showed up a day or two after the person who would have trained me had already left. Oops! But I did get to the point where I could get around in it and do basic stuff like changing permissions and adding programs or users - or hardware. It was useful in some ways, though at the time I wasn't too happy about it.
