Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A new road or a secret gate...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Good morning!
Huh...my Dad did a shocking thing yesterday. I feel like what I know of the world is falling apart. The van that quit on Margaret the other day wasn't salvageable (needed a new engine, and it was too expensive to bother with), so he bought a car that was newer than seven or ten years old - a 2001 Ford Focus, mostly for Margaret to drive. Only 33k on it.
This has never happened before! I feel so...vulnerable, somehow...

A Focus is a nice car...along the lines of a Cavalier, right? I loved my old blue Cavalier.
That's what I'm worried about with my van...that fixing it will cost more than it's worth. What does one do in a situation like that??

Good morning everyone!
New shoes eh? Well we went and loaded up on new sweaters. I bought perhaps the coolest sweatshirt ever, I am going to wear it every day.

It's kind of the new version of their Escort, I think. Cute little car. A bright yellow hatchback.

Have you had it looked at yet? You think it's the transmission right?

As for the old one...I think the mechanic has a network of people who will take cars for parts...but I doubt they'll get much for it.
Dad was pretty down about it all yesterday. He's almost always bought junkers and just drove them until they died, but what with Margaret driving quite a distance for violin school and with the bad luck he's had with the last few junk cars, he decided he just couldn't do that anymore.
But debt isn't fun, either!

Post a pic!
Good morning! I'm happy to be back! If I can't GO anywhere, I'd just soon be able to Freep, you know? LOL I mean, think about it...if all you guys were sitting here visiting with me in RL in my livingroom, would I be wanting to jump up and do a bunch of stuff?
What's the difference?? :-)

I'm not postin' a pic of me, I have bed hair. It's a big tent of a blue sweatshirt that hangs down real long and has a zipper at the neck that zips up and it has yellow trim. ;~D

Joshua has a question...
When does one quit being a toddler? At what age?
He's sitting literally inches from me, here on the floor.

This has never happened before! I feel so...vulnerable, somehow...It's just a function of his having more money available now that you older kids are leaving the nest. ;o) We never owned a brand new car until the year of our 25th anniversary!! We always bought used cause there were so many other things for which we needed the money! But we still bought used this last time cause I'm waiting for Toyota to introduce the hybrid Sienna.
