The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yeah, if you read books aloud for years and years...they kinda become a part of you, I guess!

At least we still have close family friends with small kids. And hopefully the bothers will have kids eventually. So...there are still people to read to.

I just don't compose well on paper. Though I thought about trying.

Am now calculating whether there's enough time in between seminar and lab for me to run home, find out where the FedEx depot is (assuming they try to deliver today, which the Indian Tech Support Chick promised they would), and pick up the drive...

BTW, I'm up to about episode ten in Full Moon now.

It's still a bit silly in places, but I'm hooked at this point. Have the songs stuck in my head, too.

Is there any way to look on-line and find the nearest FedEx depot, where they're likely to take it?

Ohh, good idea... I'll bet there is. I think the place is just a few miles away, though.

Glad you like FMwS. The songs really are catchy - are you up the second closer? I really like that song. Hum it under my breath all the time.

I'm up to the second closer, if you mean her debut song.

Yep, they're catchy! Maybe a bit too much so...but ah well.

Ah well, indeed.

Almost lunchtime. Good. Morning's been pretty exhausting, what with DemonLady popping in all the time.

Hello all! I'm at the library which is right next door to the phone company. Got my phone situation straightened out so I should be online by this evening. I'll see you then, maybe. Steve might be coming home early. My car broke down. Sigh. Just one more thing. The thing won't shift from first gear for a long time, then when it does it goes "THUNK" and lurches and then does ok. Well, except the speedometer isn't working either. Sigh. My sweet neighbor let me borrow her car. (We don't live very far from the library.)

Well, maybe Steve can fix it...he did fix the truck! And he did practically fix the oven (found the part we needed, just can't get right now.)

So I'm optimistic!! I'm optimistic I TELL YA! LOL

Corin... are we going to have to yell at you again?

Of course, I've been treating my sore throat with ibuprofin for the last five days, so...

This is all new (within the last hour). Seriesly, what else can they do? I'm on an antibiotic, I'm taking over the counter allergy stuff, I've got the cough syrup, done the inhaler.

I think this latest would go away if I could just go home and take a nap...

Um, could your lunch just be disagreeing with you?

Yeah, I wish I could take a nap, too.

Could be. That wouldn't necessarily explain the chills tho. Seriesly, I'll be okay when I can go home and get some rest. I'll lay down for an hour or so when I get home, and I'll be fine.

You'd better be. Will you actually get to lie down when you get home?

Well, good.

Great, class time. Now at least things get hectic enough that I don't have to worry about whether my files can be restored or not.

*waves*

I know I'm too late...but hopefully we'll see you tonight!

Sorry to hear about the van problems...hope that works out! I still have to get my van fixed - the windshield, that is. I dunno how I'm going to swing that. I'll pray for your troubles if you pray for mine! LOL...
