Matthew just came in here a minute ago, started going on and on about some obscure Star Wars reference...and I do mean on and on...you can't get him to be quiet once he gets going. So while he was talking I pulled up that bunny with a pancake on it's head and showed it to him.
He stopped talking Star Wars and started laughing till tears came to his eyes!

No one, and I mean ~no one~ actually "gets it".
They all just ask my why I have such a weird pic on the outside of my cube. *sigh*

The wedding is April 16th...so Dad's plans are just to fly in the 17th and out the 18th.
I'm hoping to take a few more days on one end or the other.
We'd kinda talked about driving, but I dunno if that's gonna happen in reality. Just too many things that could go wrong.

Hey there... [sigh] had to go back to work there for a minute.
Dangit... just got notice tonight that one of my best people is resigning. Got a good offer elsewhere. First person I've had leave (voluntarily) in quite a while. I've known for a long time that he wasn't all that happy, and there wasn't much that I could do about it. It wasn't about money, and I don't counter-offer anyway.

That always sucks.
There's a good friend of mine who is leaving the company within the next month and I hate to see her go.
She's the same one who tried for the promotion my sister received and it was the straw that broke the camel's back.
Her absence is going to create a lot of problems in the department since she is the only one who has an answer for just about anything related to payroll. *sigh*
Freeping can really burn up the time. I hated interning at a company that did not give me an internet connection... but I DID get more work done :P
Yah... and this is one of my best people. He's got *the gift* and those people are hard to find.
I've known for a long time that he was basically unhappy in his job, but unfortunately there was nothing I could do about it. He started absolutely *hating* the users he had to support, and while I can pay better (which I did) and I can grant as much self-management as possible (which I did)... there's nothing I can do to make somebody love a job that they just hate. He hates stupid people, and in the world of IT, there's just no getting away from them.
He also hated being on-call. This was the one that really made me laugh, and he hated that too. Our on-call rotation means that each person is only on-call (24/7) for ONE week out of TEN. Yeessh...
One in ten?? Fer cryin' out loud... for the first ten years of my IT life I was on-call EVERY day, 24/7/365. Now I'm still on-call 24/7/365, but mostly just for escalations, but I still stand the one in ten duty for ordinary calls, and I take the duty for holidays.
These kids today... they don't know how good they got it.
