The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

You're probably right about that. I was only relying on my not-so-perfect memory.

Which bother?

Ugh, writing code that does nothing, just to make our program look like it might, concievably, do something. In another ten years. Why did I think grad school was a good idea?

Wow, did this turn out good!

We had a little bit of a mishap when we turned it over onto the breasts midway, it stuck and when we turned it back it lost some of the great skin off the top, but we kept on basting and wow is it tasty!

We never did take it directly to the grill.... didn't seem like we needed to and we could baste it this way.

Which bother?

Stephen. Not one you've met. He's probably the coolest, though. ;-)

I'd love to give ya some. we are just having it all to ourselves.

Maybe we should do the Christmas turkey this way? I'm into it.

though... someday I'd like to try the deep-fry method...

I just sent the report and pics up to D & D. To see if they think it sounds good. I would hate to suggest any change to something D has all planned out already. ;~D

We did it because our oven doesn't get very hot, which isn't a good feature in an oven.

But I'd think it'd be handy to keep the oven available when doing bing meals.
