The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

But they also can't agree amongst themselves what exactly it means...beef, pork, what kinda sauce...

The word "barbecue" used by itself means pork. If it's any other type of varmint "barbecued" is a qualifier as in "barbecued chicken." Sauces? There are two: Eastern and Western.

And "eastern" and "western" do not refer to the coasts, but to portions of South Carolina, is that correct?

I just don't get this.

North Carolina. I think they use some mustard concoction in South Carolina.

Steve brings home scrap paper from work for me to use as a scratch paper for the boy's school. Well, I just picked up one piece that Joshua was using to draw on and on one side it is titled "Fecal Chain of Custody".

That just don't sound good at all...

Barbecue is a matter of 'religious' conviction. They have variants in the south from (at least) North Carolina to Texas, and north to Kansas, with the various NC barbecues, Memphis's version, Kansas City's, and Texas's versions among the most famous.

In Florida, barbecue includes slices of smoked Pork or Beef or Chicken or Ribs, with sauces on the side!!

Hey...just now I took a couple of pieces of bread and put them together, moved them up and down like a puppet mouth and made them talk to Joshua...Ha ha!! Bread said "Joshua...how about a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!" Then Joshua opened the fridge door and he and the bread conversed about which type of jelly would be best with the peanut butter. Finally the sandwich was made and Joshua sat down to eat it and he casually said "I wonder how that bread knew my name..."

LOL! Oh man...that's too funny!

Heh...I had my brother on the phone while checking in, so I had to tell him the story, too. ;-) He said "I wanna meet that kid!"

Hey Hair: Nice barbeque that you're barbequeing that barbecued turkey on! [noun, verb, adjective]

I'm trying to decide whether to head into town [ack!] to go to the Rossi Rally/Protest. [sigh] It's raining hard.

I know I'm biased, but I just think my kids are hysterically funny! Matthew has a talent for taking theme songs like from Mr. Rogers Neighborhood and changing to words...like Weird Al Yankovich, you know?

Hi there!

Hey, I got to thinkin' after I logged off last night that, you know, I only checked the one webpage there about those oval windows on Bugs...that sure doesn't make me an authority. It sounded reasonable, but I shouldn't say it's a fact.

Usually I'm not so shoddy in my data collecting, but I knew Steve would be home soon and I was in a rush!
