The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

*sigh*

"She-who-needs-ritalin and I are working on another report" has now become "Lil' is writing another report."

Good thing I got so organized yesterday.

At least you don't have to work so closely with She, right?

I'll trade you She-who-needs-Ritalin for Rasputin.

We're going on a road trip. I'm heading out to Roanoke for a bored meeting tomorrow.

Don't know if I'll have Internet access at the hotel or not. I'll check in if I can.

Southerners are really touchy about inappropriate use of the word barbecue.

But they also can't agree amongst themselves what exactly it means...beef, pork, what kinda sauce...

You tryin' to start a flame war here? ;-)

Heh...I'm on a guitar mailing list - mostly bluegrass musicians, and it's vey, vey laid back. Once every coupla years, though, someone says something about barbeque and it just goes NUTS for awhile.

Some things are sacred.

I suspect Lil' you'd find much of this out in the G.R.I.T.S. manual.

Gotta go. Looks like the hotel has "dataports in select business rooms."

Thus, looks like I'll talk to y'all tomorrow night after I get home from the performance.

That's different. They is different kinds of barbecue.

But barbecue is something you eat, not something you do.

Now let me go...

Pah-haaaps. I know one thing, though. Where I come from making "Pit beef" or "Pit Barbeque" first requires *digging* a pit. These Murlanders don't know what they're missing.

Best of luck on your trip!
