Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A new road or a secret gate...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

No... it's OK... don't go. It's not among my better stuff. :-)
I just get really strung out on immigration threads. For some reason they just push my buttons. I can't 'splain it.
Usually the catch-phrase has to do with "sealing" the borders (as if it were some zip-lock that we'd just overlooked). Or maybe its somebody that uses the "open borders" stinger...
It just bugs me. As somebody that stood a post on that border and did interceptions and boardings, and worked alongside Border Patrol and Customs people that were all working as hard as they could to watch that border... it just cheezes me off to think that these people just piss on the efforts of tens of thousands of good people.
The U.S. has 22,000 miles of border. That's only 2,000 miles short of saying we should "seal" the equator. Rotsa Ruck.

Huh! Wha? Oh, sorry. I was napping for a sec.
You are not outta line at all. You can present facts and reasoned arguments all day long, but scratch the surface of most of those folks and you'll find someone who hates all immigrants.
I take it personal-like because my mom and her family made it over here and worked damn hard to get where they are today. It ain't much, but it's ours. And we didn't steal it from anyone else either.
OK, now I'm back to bed. *grin*

My plan for "sealing the border"? Satellites, and crowbars-from-spaaaaace! That'd stop the so-called invading horde.
But seriesly, they need to start presenting real plans, rather than just whining.

Morning! Rainy and cold here.
Have fun at school today, g'nad. I'm getting ready to write a statement of work for a contract we're sending out and the 'evil-genius'/sadist/teacher Lil'freeper is bubbling to the surface. Muahahahaa! Muaahahahaaa! Muahahaahahaha!

worked alongside Border Patrol and Customs people that were all working as hard as they could to watch that border... As a former resident of a border state, I thank you for your efforts. I avoid those threads, too, because my solution for 'sealing' the border would likely get me banned: minefields.

Good morning!
*yawn* Hadda make the coffee strong this morning. As if I ever don't...
It's NASTY out there. Slushy, icy roads. Some days the drive in is relaxing...can listen quietly to the radio and just mentally prepare for the day. Other days...are like today!
And we're supposed to get continuing freezing rain and snow and sleet all day. Glory...
I feel all discombobulated from my wandering yesterday. Probably will mostly stay in the Hole today!
