Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A new road or a secret gate...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I haven't had much luck with lavender. I've got a plant in a pot that's still alive so far. But I wasn't impressed with the blooms. Maybe I need a different kind.

Sigh.
We did not get back our papers today. The final draft is still due Friday. Grr.
A moron sends us an email saying his problem is A, and then wonders that B doesn't work.
At least it's sunny. And I got a ten dollar discount on the shuttle to the airport...

Well, I had an unusual day.
It was a good day!
It's been a while since I've felt like I accomplished something and today I did. Mostly I got She-who-needs-ritalin organized (we're writing another paper). It may be weeks or months before she realizes how organized she is, but I feel good nonetheless.
*sigh*
'twas a good day.

And yet, despite the headache, I'm still peeking at that thread!
Hm...need something good for dinner.
I suppose ice cream is out, even if I feel like having it...

I suppose ice cream is out, even if I feel like having it... Ice cream can't be an entre unless it's chocolate...
Later folks. Time to go. We'll find out if the Christmas light timers are workin'...
To: Corin Stormhands
Ice cream also isn't very [censored four letter word starting with d and ending with t] friendly.
Good luck with the lights!

Are you sure turning into a snake wouldn't help?

Positive. It never helps. Evil Overlord's List says so, and they should know.

Anyway I don't know how to turn into a snake.
Sigh. Once this week is over, I just have finals... and then I go home. I can't tell you how happy that makes me...

December 18th. 12 days. It will be so nice not to have any responsibilities - or homework - for a couple weeks.

We're going to be doing upgrades during break. Lots n' lots n' lots of upgrades.
But all the faculty and students will be gone.
It'll be almost creepy quiet.
I like that once in awhile!

Ya know...I think it would be hilarious if that thread BECAME the FR Singles chitchat thread, kinda how the original Hobbit Hole morphed into this!
It has changed in tone dramatically over the past hundred posts or so.

Ok, now I nominate Talon to start a singles thread... or hijack that one.

She is a very nice lady...very hard of hearing and a little sad and lonely. She misses her old house and all of her things. For as much as I love the fact that her son built this house for her next door, I don't think they were as sensitive as they could have been about uprooting her. She likes being next door to her boy, but misses her old friends and really needs to get out more to socialize. She comes with us to church sometimes and likes it because they have a hearing device for her to use.
