The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Where do they leak? Where you screw the hoses into them? Would plummer's tape work?

The game was awful! We were for Army, wearing our 82nd Airborne tee-shirts and everything. They got beat soundly. We had hotdogs with chili and cheese, chips and soda. Matthew overdid it and barfed it all up last night!

I can't help it...I gotta chuckle. He just stuffed himself! LOL I gave him two Tums. He got one down.

He did feel much better after he barfed.

Got the car fixed AGAIN. It seems that a burned out lightbulb might have been the culprit that kept blowing the fuse. Steve took it out and wrapped the wires with electrician's tape. It's ran great for the past couple of days.

Just gotta figure out where the slow power steering fluid leak is, then I'm going to try to sell the thing.

Also got the truck fixed...it was running hot. Steve flushed the radiator and refilled it with fresh coolant. Running like a top.

Steve's mom sent Steve $50 for his birthday...he's gonna spend it on a new element for my oven! Woohoo! I'll be able to make my pumpkin breads for my neighbors...

Sounds like things are just a little better!

Ugh, spent an hour fussing with my computer. I think it's overheating. Contacted Dell, they said re-seat the memory and hard drive. Of course, I managed to not get the memory re-seated right and spent five minutes going back and forth between wiggling it in the slot like a kid with a loose tooth, and trying to boot.

Someone at church today wished me a "pleasant Sabbath", meaning rest day. It was all I could do not to laugh in their face... I'm sure Steve has to do homework most Sundays too. If that's against the Law, I'm in trouble. But I've got Jesus so I shouldn't let it worry me at all, right?

Yes, pretty cool of Steve!

Sorry for the horse remark...I have this bad habit of hollering "git a horse!" at people in boats that are broken down, when I roar past them at 30 knots or so, on the water. 'course I generally go back after that and offer a tow.

Good night everyone.

Heh heh! Nope, Steve didn't take today off. He did take yesterday off, but just 'cause he had so much he HAD to do! But he's gone right now...actually should be home soon...but he's been at the school library with his study group almost all day.

Two weeks... two weeks from now I'll be home, actually. I'm so looking forward to looking forward to a Sunday morning. I'll just get good'n churched up while I'm home, and that'll mean I'll be able to stand trying out more places... sigh... I'm thinking of driving to Wyoming. I hear there's a really, really good PCA church in Cheyenne.

Nope, not on Sunday or the sabbath...

But I think I'm covered by the "ox in a ditch" rule.

I'm gonna be a bad mother... I know how to take care of a baby, but if she's crying for no reason at all, and it's bedtime, I'd probably just let her cry. It doesn't bother me that much.

Maybe it's different when it's your own kid? But I had quite the reputation growing up as "the girl who bores babies to sleep". Based on my patent-pending technique of "hold baby in one arm, paperback novel in other, ignore child, read."

Evenin'

Three shows today. All went well.

Finished the tree this morning. Just a little Christmas straightening up and we're good to go. Trying to get the new timers I bought to work on the Christmas lights. They aren't in sync yet.

Got two more knifeworthy recipients.

One is a friend, a naval commander who is close to retiring (he's a year younger than me). Another is the son of a friend who just enlisted in the Army.

I'll get you the addresses for both this week, along with some Paypal.

What kind of bad dreams could a baby have, I wonder? She doesn't even know about being chased by monsters and bears and things yet!
