The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yep. Getting towards the end, though. Just watched the Christmas episode last night.

I dunno if there's gonna be room for trestles any time soon. Trees and buildings might be a more realistic thing?

When's it due? Friday?

I admit to writing at work sometimes. But sometimes it's either that or play games! At least this way I'm improving my "communication skills"...

Lovely show...

Talon, got any new suggestions? I'm watching "Bleach" but I need a nice shoujo. Subtle, yet sweet. Charming, yet more to it than just tugging at the heartstrings. And pretty animation.

Rosie, sounds like you're going to need a new anime after Christmas! Let's see... I could loan you "Fruits Basket" if you're willing to watch it relatively quickly (within two months, say) and ship it back... ditto "Rurouni Kenshin". Or you can have a copy of "Full Metal Panic"... what do you want? More feeling-oriented, shoujo dramas? Or a nice shonen action series?

Hm...right now I'm kinda in the shoujo mood, mostly 'cause I'm writing kiddie fiction and watching FMwSS...after Christmas, I'm likely to want to get away from that for a bit...

What's Full Metal Panic about?

I really, really like the music I've heard from Fruits Basket...so I'd say despite what I've just said, that's probably top on my list, if you'd really be willing to lend it to me!

Some tree hugging types were crying over this and I was able to set them straight. (not that that helps them, but it does shut them up for a while)

Roger that. The Salmon politics here are just off da charts. These latest policy changes by Dubya are just one little babystep at trying to bring some sanity back on the table. But, of course, the headline in the Seattle Times today was, I kid you not: "BUSH ELIMINATES HABITAT FOR SALMON" or something to that effect. Yeesh... It's a dang lie.

"Fruits Basket" is one of my three favs, along with FMA and Rurouni Kenshin.

"Full Metal Panic" is... there's this girl, Chidori Kaname, and this guy named Sagara Sousuke transfers into her high school. He's in a mercenary organization and is there to protect her from evil terrorists. There are also mecha (giant robot suits of armor, like in Escaflowne). It is humor and action, both. Sousuke's pretty cute, too ;-)

Well, the little dollie on the Island of Misfit Toys started crying because she thought Santa wasn't going to come get them and Joshua yelled "Oh, get a grip!"

hehehehe...

The Grinch is my fav. Though... I could swear I saw The Grinch on some time last week... and it had all *new* music and new voiceovers. It was *awful*.

Why can't people leave well enough alone?

Heheh...

I popped them some corn. Matthew like his buttered and salted. Not Joshua. Just butter thanks, no salt! Oh, and syrup on the pancakes, but no whipped cream, thank you...

He definitely has his own tastes, which is something so novel to me. With me, for so long, my tastes were whatever was before me because too much grief came from voicing a dissenting opinion.

I'm learning a lot of Joshua...

Yep, I like the Grinch too...although we were watching the one with that doofy fellow from Pet Detective...Jim Carrey...and when dove head-first into some woman's boobs we had to change the channel.

I know I'm probably terribly backward, but I don't want my kids seeing crap like that.

I wasn't offended by the movie, but it was really dumb. Jim Carrey I liked in "Truman Show" but otherwise... well... I'm hoping he doesn't ruin "A Series of Unfortunate Events".

I was at a sort of party thing where they were showing that movie to a bunch of kids (not mine, so I had no say...). The kids didn't seem bothered...but I walked out!

Of course, I find Jim Carrey annoying beyond words, so I dunno if it was something offensive like your example that made me leave. I just remember thinking "Enough!"
