My uncle is a college professor with a Masters in Science & Math.

I tell him all the time that its his fault I don't like math. He took all of the math DNA for himself and it never made it to his nieces. :P

I just hauled our big tomato plant into the chicken coop. It's covered in defrosted green tomatoes. The chickens think they've died and gone to heaven. After they've consumed all those tomatoes, I hope we get a good hard rain...the yard is gonna be a mess.

I'm just sittin' in the living room minding my own business the other day when Steve walks in, sits in his recliner and commences to eat cranberry sauce right out of the can!

"What are you DOING?" I screamed! (Not really, but it sounds more dramatic.)

"What?" says he..."This is low-carb isn't it?"

"Steve," says I..."It's JELLY."

just cleaned out the coop... amazing how much crap 30 birds can generate... put down fresh straw...

with the weather turning, we started winter rations for thebirds... just about tripled what we fed them in the summer...

got the cannas out... man, that stuff grows exponentially...

got 6" of straw over the strawberries, and laid a 4" welded wire fence scrap over that tuh keep the stoopid birds from tearing it up...

when I was skinnin' and cleanin' the two deer, I was tossin' thebirds scraps of fat, meat, offal, etc... they were diggin' that... won't tell yuh what they did tuh the head...

Yep, same here...at least doubled the ration and I add a bit of scratch to boost their metabolism...keep 'em warm. I also gave them a couple of gallons of warm water last night...the waterer had already started to freeze.

Jar jar (the white egg layer) is the only one that seems to be wanting to molt, she lost all those pretty tail feathers and has about half and half new body feathers...she's gonna be real pretty when she gets done. She took only a couple of weeks off then began to lay again. We get anywhere from 3-5 eggs a day...pretty good for just a half-dozen birds!

Hehe...chickens really are carnivorous...I've seen one of them down a lizard whole.
