The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Mornin'

Lil' the dining room looks great! Sigh...someday we'll have a real house with real furniture again. Fergive the crassness, but that'll be after Nana and after the boys move out...so I'm thinking a one level condo, preferably waterfront.

But, speaking of Nana, the brace comes off today! Now to just convince her to be mobile again.

Oh, that's so beautiful!

I do sooo envy people who can make a beautiful room like that. I just don't have the knack.

Now to just convince her to be mobile again.

Best of luck with that! I imagine it's frightening for her...

PJ Scout sent me a job opening for an Environmental Specialist. I forwarded it on to Steve. It's with Williams here in Tulsa. I'm really hoping Steve gets a job with someone like Williams, because they are a big company and are located here so we won't have to move. I love this area.

Best of luck with that! I imagine it's frightening for her...

She ain't near as skeered as she's gonna need to be if she don't start movin'...

Seriously, the reality is that most of her problem now is mental. She thinks she can't do anything, therefore she can't do anything. It will be a shock when wife stops carrying meals to her chair (that would be tomorrow). But the reality is she could've been eating at the table weeks ago.

The doctor understands this now. He's agreed to not tell her anything negative that could possibly happen, because she would sit around worrying until it did happen.

She's still got some recovery to do. But if she doesn't start moving, she's not going to get any better.

I don't know the starting pay...sometimes the posted job says but this one doesn't. But I haven't seen one yet that hasn't been at least TWICE what he makes now.

ASG, I have a lot of things "I" want, but I'm also very aware that there is kindness I have to repay first, in one way or another.

You know, other than Algebra, I think Jr. is hangin' on. Once grades are out again we may have to rethink this whole math thing (put him in a different class).

We still get the normal teenage crap at home. But it's been rather amazing to watch him in this year's Christmas production. He wouldn't have been doing so much if he'd been playing football. But he's got a significant part in several scenes.

He seems to have a natural instinct to react on stage, especially when something goes wrong. He can adapt immediately.

We've got adults who have done this for 20 years who still can't do that.

Coffee is good! I have pumpkin spice this morning. One of two or three Green Mountain Coffee flavors I like...rest of the time I drink plain.

But the Pumpkin Spice, Eggnog, and Blueberry are really good. (Yes, blueberry - hard to imagine, but...)

My freshman year, I failed "Into to Algebra 1", took it again my sophmore year, this time they just passed me, then in my junior year, I naturally failed "Intro to Algebra 2" and would have had to have taken it again my senior year except they cried uncle with me and put me in a "Just please learn THIS math so you can function in the world" class.

I amazingly learned a LOT in this class that I had missed in my younger years.
