The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Good morning! I've been over at the Beetle message board...they're having a fight over what causes a shimmy when the car gets up to 50mph. I have no idea what they're talking about but it's gotten heated!

Can't wait to see the pics, Lil!

Question for you. I just got started using the computer we bought while I was away. MOst web sites I get pictures that only show a box with a little red x in the corner. SOmetimes I get a message that says " you are not currently set to run active x controls" or something like that. Is this something in my settings on IE? I went in and manually enabled everything in the security zone, but got nothing. I am kinda of a computer retard, I know how to turn one on, type and surf. THat's about it. Any insight would be great. Thanks.

Steve

Great... Hot-heads in very small cars that shimmy at high speeds...

Let us know how that turns out!

He's lookin' into it....

If you go into Internet Options and hit the security tab and just click to go back to the default setting, it should put you at a medium level that ~should~ work....

OT - didn't you used to turn all pictures on and off in IE when you were on dial up?

LOL Ok!

You know what I would like to do? I'd like to get me a VW Bug, fix it all up (no fancy stereo...just an AM/FM radio), head off and go across the country on the back roads, visiting with people and staying in little hotels along the way. See the sights.

Then come home and write a book about it. I could title it:

"Me and My Bug: One Woman's Cross-Country Midlife Crisis."

LOL

I've got a couch if you make it up this way...

BTW, I just did some quick figuring, and just gas costs for going from here to WA would likely be over $250 each way. Granted...if five or six of us went, that'd still be cheaper than flying, but still pricey. And if we stopped anywhere for the night (with three drivers we were thinking of just going through the night), that'd be additional costs.

But then...I think we wanted to do it more for the adventure than for costs savings.

I think I would swing up and see Corin (and any other HHDs on the way) then over to see you, then back home...

First stop would be the g'nads...

Yeah...might be able to pick a place to settle down...

Seriesly, that's a small part of this! Though of course we'd only see the very northernmost part of the country.

But then...I like north! Give me snow!

I did almost the same trip when I was little, but I don't remember it. We moved from Portland, Oregon to the house I grew up in. We stopped in Indiana (where Mom's family is from) and Dad came up here to get a job and all, so it wasn't QUITE as long of a trip, but just about! I barely remember it. I remember sleeping in the back of the station wagon on some pillows (probably completely illegal even back then), and I remember my brother tearing the felt eyes on my teddy bear...but that's about it.

As Dad pointed out, if we did this road trip we'd either bond in a much closer way or never speak to one another again...

So, today the new 6-minute trailer for ROTK:EE is supposed to come out. Where is it? We wants it!!

(And we wants it before ~6:30 am PST, or we'll have to wait until ~6 pm PST... and that's no good, no, precious!)

Dan

This doesn't sound like your error message, pictures shouldn't be Active X controls, I don't think.... But see if any of this sounds like you.
