Eleventh Thread: Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
So kill the other guy. You like Mr. Wright better...
I'd say at least get an accurate fix estimate!
True...I guess it's better to know what I'm up against than to sit around worrying about it.
Can't do it today...it's raining and I will have to walk home (it's not very far). I'd do it but I don't want to get the jedis out.
Which is what has lead to this fit of doldrums...the weather is bad, we can't get out even into the back yard...
At least I've got the Hole!!
Avoid trading it in if at all possible. If kbb says $2,000 a dealer will work his fuzzy math and claim he is allowing you $4,000 and if you're lucky he will actually be allowing you $200.
You are miles ahead if you can sell it to an individual even if you have to take less than the real value.
Give 'em books, they'll go to stranger places than the backyard anyway.
I dunno if I do, now.
*sigh*
But if I write a bunch today and a ton tomorrow, I could finish this and not have to answer that question. Leastways not entirely.
That's sort of my goal, too, to try to be done by the weekend. Whew. It's been interesting.
This was a pretty good year! I didn't like my story as much as I did in 2002, but at least I'm gonna finish, unlike last year.
And (believe it or not) I'm in a much more optimistic mode about writing in general than I've been in the past, partly because this time around I knew it wasn't anything publishable, even in my wildest dreams...so it was strictly an exercise. That kind of made it slightly easier. I've done no editing whatsoever, for example...
Oh yeah...that's true! They tried to give me $900 for my cavalier when I went to trade it in on this van. I said "I'm gonna try to sell it first." It was a really pretty nice car for 11 years old. I sold it $1900 in two days!
Heh! True!
They're doing school now...I'm gonna read some Wrinkle to them afterward...I want to get it back to the library.
They love it! Even Joshua loves it (and it's pretty deep for a 6 year old!)
And it's 50k words that you've written! That's 50k closer to being a really good writer.
That's a great way to look at it!
Heh, why do you think I do this year after year... someday I'll be a decent scribbler...
A couple of years ago I wanted a new truck to replace my '93 S-10. I knew the dealer would steal it from me on a trade in so I gave it to my daughter. About 6 months later she called me and said "the transmission went out"
I said...AND? She said "What am I supposed to do now"
I told her to sell it "as is" she got $1,000 out of it.
I didn't see any of the $1,000 but it's ok because she used the money on a down payment on another vehicle.
Imagine what she would have wanted had I actually sold it to her instead of giving it to her.
Don't sell to a relative. They will expect a life time warranty whether they say it or not.
LOL!! I don't really have any relatives...but it's a good tip! I won't sell it to a friend either!
My dad had this pickup truck he really loved... got an suv when it was about 6 years old, but he was going to keep it Then he got guilted into giving it to his no-good brother. He still kinda misses that truck.
See, that's the thing...Steve has a pretty basic pick-up...a standard shift Ford F150, nothing fancy...no radio or nothing...you roll down the windows. We got it in March of 1992 right after we got married. That thing runs and runs and when it breaks down, Steve fixes it! It's simple for him to work on.
I just don't want to get to this point ever again that if I have a car I have to depend on someone else to fix it. This situation is just the final straw. Something in the car's "computer" probably went out. We don't want a car with a computer any more!
Ha!! I just love that guy...
Hi Bear!!
Good luck, then... you'll need to find an old car. The VW bug might be your best bet.
What I wanna know is, if my car's got all this computing power, why can't it automatically adjust to Daylight Savings Time for me?
