The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

bugs are supposedly extremely easy to fix.

That's what you think, and then it takes hours to even find where the code is breaking - oh, wait... never mind...

Good morning. Today is my Tuesday, since I'm working every day this week.

Fortunately Margaret is another Faramir fan (and a LOTR fan in general...) and I think she actually has discretionary income this time around. So I can probably mooch their copy for a bit until I can get my own!

Steve is off Thursday and Friday...which likely means very little as he probably won't take those days off from studying...well, maybe Thursday...but I bet not Friday. The library will be open then.

My week's not that bad. I only have to work four hours a day, of course, and there's homework too but not as much as I'd feared. It's really a vacation for me (notice me sleeping in an hour this morning? Ah, bliss)

Too bad about Steve, but I know how he feels.

Wasn't that about the first conversation we had in person? At Entmoot? ;-)

You know it's always this way toward the end of the semester...it gets really hard on all of us. We miss him! Then, the Christmas break and we get a bit of a reprieve, except this time I even bet there isn't much of a reprieve, even...because he's also working on his thesis.

Sigh...it's almost over, though...almost over. Come Shootmoot, we're gonna be ready to celebrate!

Well, remember before Entmoot, everyone seemed to be leaving, so we had a Boromir-bash-fest? And a Faramir appreciation night, too.

The first, oh, five minutes of Entmoot were uncomfortable, huh?

Dunno if it was even that long!

The only thing that made a little uncomfortable was the fact that Margaret and Bilbo weren't quite sure what to think of everything for a day or so. After that, it was fine!

I see how you are. Don't think I miss the subtle recognition of the fact that Jr. and I were gone by then...

Oh, it took me a minute to get over my "new-people-weird-stuff" and remember, these guys aren't new! I've known them forever!

I'd think it'd be weird for them, they didn't know anyone.

See, you arrived later. We'd all figured out who we were by then so there was no need to feel uncomfortable...

Plus, come on, you were greeted by a party in your honor when you walked in, that's got to break the ice.

The only time I was uncomfortable was sleeping on that danged tile floor.

;-)

They got over it fairly quickly, though! And they still talk about it all the time - they really had a great time.
