The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

FMwSS?

That's right, isn't it? ;-)

I really must learn not to encourage the dwarves, even accidentally...

I'll have to do a word count on some of my stuff, and see how it stacks up!

Probably way beyond! 50k is a pretty short book, but it IS a lot to write in a month if you have lots of other stuff to do in your life. Doable, but it takes some buckling down. Good fer me, I guess!

Good point.

My novel probably weighs in at 75K. The ep I wrote for "Star Trek" I wouldn't even dare try...

Maybe short stories? That's possible.

Yep! That one. The Show With The Cute Shinigami.

I'm actually getting somewhere! Woot! I think I'll write on and off for the next few hours until aforementioned manga finishs downloading. Am at 33,551 and counting.

The actual novels I'm sort of working on, now and then, will be closer to 75k than 50k if they are ever finished. Not sure how long this year's NaNovel will be. I might finish at 50, or not...

Argh, but this is so fascinating - I wish I had found the Hobbit Hole earlier!

Don't worry, we'll never go away...

Hmm. There is a most curious noise, as though my downstairs neighbor were playing a dijeridoo.

I wonder... perhaps it was a train. It was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike the usual sound the train makes but maybe they play a different sound in bad weather or something?

Speaking of bad weather, I just let the dogs out for a few minutes and it's sleeting like crazy out there.

Ick.

I'm almost at 34k and the scene is getting easier, yay.

It's still snowing here. The road is covered... hopefully by the time I go to church tomorrow it will be clear.

Coincidence: the troops down the hallway have their "music" cranked up to seismic levels...

I don't think I can ID it - it's a kind of street music, but there's almost salsa to it...

Oh, so it's almost music, rather than not-at-all music?
