The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Um... lessee... I dunno. Only actresses from that ear I can recognize right off are Katherine Hepburn and... um, Katherine Hepburn.

I thought the same thing! But see, I've got to be able to sit and watch classic films in peace and that doesn't happen very often in my life!

I knew it wasn't Hepburn, I just said she's the only one I do know.

I do not recall ever having heard Cyd Charisse's name before.

We just missed another call from Steve by a couple minutes! rats! they are going to be in the air any minute now (11:00 NJ time, 8:00 local) and arriving in the middle of the night (5 hours or so from now) here. He said he will call in the morning.

I wish this would have worked out better for warm homecoming greetings, but we'll do the best we can!

He's really behind, we'll need a lot of protective tarpage. And a hose.

Cyd Charisse was a dancer in the "Golden Age" of Hollywood. I don't know that she was known for a lot of leading roles.

Daughter just decided to pop in the Bakshi version of LOTR...lasted all of 15 minutes before she decided it was 'bleh.' Her words, exactly.

It didnt even impress her that it was a little girl that was the physical component of the roto-scope Frodo. and she didnt even get far enough to see Merry and Pippin.
