The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

well.... We spoke too soon. They are still in New Jersey. I just spoke to a gal in his unit who has the cell phone we are relying on for communication.

They had plane troubles, and will be getting a flight ~way~ late tonight - a red-eye, or they may possibly even just stay over and fly in tomorrow. Option right now is that we might be able to meet for breakfast or some time tomorrow, but definately not tonight.

ecurbh and I are going to head out now for some dinner at our watering hole. We are hungry and unprepared for dinner here, we had been saving ourselves for Galloping Gerties... ;~D Back in awhile...

Nothing is ever simple when the military is involved but I appreciate very much your efforts on Steve's behalf.

Crystal called me a few minutes ago and she didn't have the information about the delay. I'll call her and let her know. Thank you very much.

And you know the correct usage of grok, too. You fit in.

Good evening, people! Got back from the weekend's fun; dinner and a movie with galpals. We saw The Incredibles, (again for me) because nothing else looked good.

Rosie... motivate me to write, please...

Do you lay on the bottom of the pool for hours at a time as well?

Yikes! My plans were watching TV and eating junk food.

Can we fit that in somehow?

Plan? there's a plan?

I didn't get the memo. Was there a meeting on this?

What's the big plans for the evenin' folks?

Currently I'm avoiding cleaning the garage. I spent about an hour out there and need to go back for prolly another hour or so. Gotta make room to stage the Christmas decorations...

Good, good! Family's great - we're entering the final stages of the adoption process, we've got our homestudy all done, and we go next week for BCI and fingerprinting. Then, we start the screening and matching process!

Autumn is growing like a weed. Here she is with my niece (Jess' brothers' daughter):

And here she is in her new Church dress:

And, if that adoption weren't enough, we got a new puppy!:

We're doing a bunch of renovation to the house - decorating-wise, so it's kept my nights pretty busy. A new role at work keeps my days pretty busy...just busy busy busy.

How are your girls doing? How did you fare during that nasty Hurricane Season?

No memo? No meetings?

Inconceivable!!!

:-)

[sigh] Had a fun one this afternoon. Got the 3pm Friday afternoon grenade-mail from Ms Psycho Office Director, in [ahem] another office someplace else. Of course there is little that can really be solved after 3pm on Friday, especially if it is a grand sweeping mega-policy issue. And of course she's on the east coast so she disappears, but not before cc'ing half the world including the COO and a couple of other loudmouths.

[sip]

I just decided to leave.

Well, try to avoid it as long as you can! It's Friday night!

(Do you sense a pattern to my mood yet?)

BTW, I'd stick with sentimental rather than expensive with the anniversary gift. Do you remember the first gift you got her? Or a memento of your first date?

I know that's what I'd prefer anyway. When I see too much money spent on a gift for me, I fret over it.
