Word For The Day, Wednesday, November 3, 2004
The Verbivores | 11/3/04 | Teacher

Posted on 11/03/2004 5:11:30 AM PST by RikaStrom

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

schadenfreude \SHAHD-n-froy-duh\, noun:

1. A malicious satisfaction in the misfortunes of others.

If self-replicating e-commerce baby tycoons get on your nerves, it's schadenfreude time. It's true that the Nasdaq rebounded after its staggering loss Tuesday. Nonetheless, what AP described as "the most volatile day ever for U.S. stocks" left a distinctly bearish aftertaste.
--"Market Motion Sickness." The Industry Standard's Media Grok, April 5, 2000

Etymology: German, from Schaden, damage + Freude, joy. It is often capitalized, as it is in German.

No dems mentioned in the poem. Kerry's name appears only as the author. I'm the ghost writer.

now Xs dearie, go easy on Terry-baby. I kinda feel sorry for her, married to that lurch. I'd never seen a single pic of her enjoying his touch or attentions. the poor dear actually seems to wince whenever he touches her.
