My daughter is 18 and voting in Boston. She showed up at the polling place to vote when it opened at 7:00. After waiting a half-hour in line she was told she was at the wrong place and sent to another location. She walked to the other location and waited another half-hour to be told she was still at the wrong place and was sent to a third location. By the time she got there the line was too long to allow her to vote and then get to work.
My daughter is a registered Republican.
She admits her mistake in going to the wrong place first, but the misdirection to the second location was either a deliberate attempt to suppress the Republican vote or simple incompetence. The only way to find out is to see if others are being treated in a similar manner.
Are other voters in Boston or Mass. seeing the same thing?
Shalom, ArGee
Its John F*ckin's stomping grounds. He'll win without batting an eyelash.
That is a good idea for they may be doing this to other folks
No problems voting in Essex County.
Tell here to plug her address in here:

This was dead on accurate as to my precinct and voting location.
I worked in the elections process in Massachusetts, and I am pretty sure she was not singled out for being Republican, Your daughter can go back after work at the right spot and vote.
Tell your daughter she MUST get back over there and vote, no matter what it takes!
I didn't have any issues at all voting in my little town in the north central part of MA - but there's only one polling place for the whole town! Lots of Bush support out here.
She accepts her own mistake for not being correct in the first place. (It was her primary polling place, but apparently that's not the same as here general polling place.) However, it's wrong that the first poll worker would have sent her to the wrong place. If you and I can find the right place on the Web, a poll worker should have accurate information.
Shalom.
No offense, but she had plenty of time to get this mapped out before the election.
Im having trouble with people claiming they are being screwed when they had 4 years (or less) to figure out where their precinct is...
I hope she gets her chance to vote (We are talking Mass. though) but we all need to take some personal responsibility.
I wont trust an election person to tell me. I would either call or go home, find online my proper location and then go back out.
I know, but she should still be allowed to vote.
Shalom.
With her schedule she may not have another chance.
She was pretty broken up about it.
Shalom.
Are you insinuating that there is a positive correlation between being a Dimocrat and intelligence?
That's a LONG shot.
Shalom.
If you are unsure, walk to the front of the line and ask them to check if you are on this list.
I would not argue if the poll worker had told her he didn't know.
Shalom.
She went to the polling place that was on her registration acknowledgement letter. The letter didn't tell her the general polling place would be different from the primary polling place. There are some questions you need to know how to ask.
She has lived in Boston since August, so it's not like she's had years to figure this out. Things work very differently every else we've lived.
Shalom.
I think she has plenty of time to cast her vote but we all should check and double check to ensure we are being sent to the correct place.
Good luck to her.
*Please* encourage your daughter to go back and vote today! It is so important even in a blue state to add to popular vote totals. I feel bad about first time voters having so much trouble. You should be proud of her for her willingness to persevere. After all this trouble she must see it through.
That said, it is pretty common in some parts of the country to have a different location for primaries and general elections, because so many fewer people vote in primaries. They generally need more polling places for presidential years, especially in a year like this when so many people who usually don't vote feel so intensely motivated by their strong feelings for President Bush.
This is the most important election of our lives--it has the chance to set the tone of the country for the next 25 years. Please post later and let us know that your daughter managed to vote!
