Who connects with the voters?
People don't have a choice as to the location of their polling place. I don't see much of an issue here.

Well, the officials at Beacon Hill are comprised of the little people. They can accept Kerry's vote. They just can't walk by his home.

Where you choose to live dictates where you vote. Kerry didn't have to purchase on Beacon Hill steps away from seat of power in massachusetts. There are plenty of toney places he could have chosen within the state.
Vanity for sure! But a point none the less.
