FoxNews added to DishNetwork's basic programming

A few weeks ago I contacted my TV satellite provider (DishNetwork) because they didn't carry FoxNews as part of their first tier basic programming (America's Top 60). I would have to move up two tiers to their 120 channel package just to get FoxNews and to be honest, it would be just for that because I had no interest in the other 59 additional channels. As such, I was reluctant to pay an extra $10 every month just to add one decent channel to my programming.

Without FoxNews, my only options for news were CNN, MSNBC, CNBC and the networks. IMO, if you've got one of these, you've got them all because there isn't much diversity among them.

A few days ago I was flipping through the channels and I noticed that FoxNews was on my "subscribed" list.

I hope this isn't a fluke because when I get on DishNetwork's website, they still don't show FoxNews as being in their lowest tier package.

With the election quickly approaching, this addition comes at a good time. I'd encourage other DishNetwork subscribers interesed in FoxNews to contact them to thank them for adding this choice to their basic lineup.

Wow - this is good news.

I was lookikng at dish network but balked at subscribing because I wuld have to pay so much extra for fox news. Besides fox, there's not much I'd really watch on a regular basis other than the history channel.

Thanks for posting this.

I noticed the same thing.

But I wonder if it is a temporary deal that will be taken away after the election.

Sometimes we on Dish get movie packages for a week or so as a promotion.

Hope it stays.

I have basic Dish Network, and have been griping off and on for five years. I get two CNNs and no Fox. If my memory serves me, Dish Network added Fox during the last election. I think they left it on for a week or so. I think.

I first got FOX news with my cable about two years ago.

I hope it is not just tempoary. I was very happy with all other aspects of my basic 60-channel package. It also included my local network channels at no additional charge and when I was with DirectTV, they wanted another $6/month for the locals.

I know that DishNetwork has a means for recording what you are watching (i.e, Big Brother) via the phone line attached to your receiver box. Maybe they will get some interesting statistics this election cycle and 'see the light' and we'll get this as a permanent addition.

I can only hope (and write more letters to them asking them to keep it permanent - I hope others will do the same).

I think this is for the election.
Go to channel 100 - interactive. Election coverage
They've set up for you to be able to watch six channels at once for the election FOx, CNN, MSNBC, MTV, Comedy Channel and one other. It's really a nice set up, though I'll pretty much stick with FOX.

please keep us informed because many of us might consider dish network ONLY if they keep FNC on their most basic tier.

as far as I know Rupert/directv does not offer any low-cost tier
