Hi, all. I'm trying to learn the FR rules and language having recently discovered this neat site.
I'm wondering what does it mean when someone writes "Vanity"? Earlier today, someone was annoyed by newbies with vanity posts, and I didn't understand what that meant. Would someone explain, please? Thanks!
Is this clever and ironic?
Congratulations. You've answered your own question for here is a noobie vanity post.
Vanity means that the post isn't really a news article...more that it is a personal question or thought.
Welcome and hope you enjoy your stay.

You have written a vanity...more help here.
Looks like you just answered your own question. A vanity is when you post your own thoughts or opinions as a thread, instead of replying to a current thread or posting a news article with a source.
dump this fraud.
I am not trying to snark, but did you read this:

It might answer some of your questions. (It does explain a "vanity" there.)
UMMM. I'm sure someone will be around shortly to explain it better than I can. It's a felony around here. I've been a member sice 2000 and posted one thread under news. Scared me so bad that I usually just hitch rides now:')
Ha!!! I understand though
Ok what old freeper are you really?
LOL! I think I've posted four threads in two years, and I know one was most definitely a vanity. Got tossed into chat within five minutes. Nobody killed me for it, because it turned out to be quite entertaining for everyone who participated.
Everyone is on edge. Don't mind it, enjoy your stay
I dont know, how did you join up tommorow?
It's generally not very well-appreciated when any of us long-timers clog up the system with personal observations posted as a new article, and tolerance for newbies coming into Jim's house and tying up the bathroom is virtually nonexistent. Try to fit your questions and opinions into an existing thread.
Also, as the election gets nearer, we have a bunch of left-wing trolls from DU and other marxist web sites registering and making hemmorhoids of themselves. It remains to be seen if you fit that category.
I got some tough resposes too...its a shock at first, then you just get more confident or foolish.ha.Welcome! And yes, everyone is so burned out and on edge with this election, but without Freepr its rough in Liberalland.
Hey, how come I never got a welcome? ha.
Vanities are almost as interesting as drive-by-posters. Those are the ones that post a thread and then go away.
I've posted a couple of vanity posts and didn't get slammed. DOn't worry about it, enjoy FR!
