Careful, there. Yesterday I ran across a poster who had been registered less than two weeks who objected to being called a newbie. Said that since he'd been around the internet since the early ninties he found the term insulting.

Yeah, some newbies can't take being called what they are.
And they all want to "fix" FR, too.

I was being interviewed over the phone by an author (-- a lesbian from San Francisco, but that's probably not relevant, although she felt compelled to tell me, so maybe it is or was --) who needed somebody to contribute some chapters and do tech edits on an HTML book. She had to establish that she was the expert because she'd been online longer (bulletin boards didn't count, in her opinion). So I gave her that one. (Why argue about the small stuff when there's work and money involved?) Then she let me know "AND I've been writing about computers since 1990!" Later on in the conversation, I let it "slip" that I'd published my first computer article in 1984, had my first article published in a national computer magazine in 1986, AND had first worked on computers in 1969. (I still didn't get a byline for my work, however, because I wasn't the "expert." I love working with those from the other side who don't like labels!) ;)
