"When you hear someone say 'X' it is time to reach for your sixgun" or words to that effect.
Or perhaps, "When you see someone do 'X' it is time to reach for your gun,"
You get the idea. It sounds a bit like Ayn Rand but I think not her. The folks at Quoteland.com do not seem to come up with anything...

Try searching again only end the quote with "reach for my revolver"
If you find it - you probably won't like it.

Well my husband would be more likely to say, "Time to get my six guns." : )

"Whenever I hear the word 'culture' I reach for my revolver." -- usually attributed to Hermann Goering.

MAYYYYYBE, they meant...
When a liberal says he can help, it's time to hide your wallet.

Well you are right. I have seen it paraphrased elsewhere, as in "Whenever I hear the word 'sustainable' I reach for my revolver." Did not know it was good ol' Hermann.
