Cats respond better to women than men. One reason this might be is that women have higher pitched voices than men.

The Queen of the Universe (17 years old and still going strong) prefers my husband or brother. I am only here to fill the dish and clean the litter apparently. And those guys didn't come into her life until she was fairly old. Some thanks I get.

Don't feel too bad. My wife's cat generally prefers my company, and the feline was four years old when we met. Every night now Jezebel jumps on the bed, circles around my wife's side, and comes over to me to scratch at the covers until I let her in and then she scoots under my arm.
