In the past few weeks we've been inundated with a mass of conspiracy theories, hand-wringing doom sayers, and vanity after vanity.
It's getting more and more discouraging to read here which I suppose is what a lot of these posters are attempting to accomplish.
Because I went and made some oatmeal for breakfast (want some?) and when I came back I was shocked at the responses this got. Lots to wade through.
Makes me wish I had been a member of FR during the Bush/Gore election so I would have an appropriate refernce point to judge what's happening now.
Aside from freerepublic, I noticed that CNN.com has started a new strategy in the past couple of weeks. Their homepage constantly features a top story about Iraq. Nothing odd about that. What is odd is that they accompany the story with a grisly, bloody or depressing photograph. This style of reporting is modeled on the 1970's lefty strategy of only showing the negative in order to demoralize any support for the troops and the war effort. It's important to continue to cooly analyze the manipulations of the press.
Sorry, truth is I rarely post articles here and every time I do it, I get confused about where certain subjects should be posted. I didn't do it on purpose.
FreeRepublic is tame compared to what it was before the 2000 election.

I prefer brown sugar on mine. I am very inclusive in that way.
I would suggest that any and all activities planned by Freepers would be done by email. This site has become popular and may bring counter protests and make any Freeps not as effective. You do not need DU and moveon.org and union confrontations. FR was successful last presidential. I suspect it will be a lot harder to get things done if some of the libs get wind of what is planned. Eagles Up!

Yeah but you should have been here for the 1960 election. Man it sucked. Especially when we would get swamped and Jim's ENIAC Server would blow another vacuum tube and we would be down for two days while he got a replacement.

Actually I enjoy the majority of the vanity posts. I like the one's where people ask questions or share a well thought out opinion. I have learned a lot from them. The ones I dislike are the ones where someone wants to do a rant. Those really belong on a thread. I've been on FR since 1998 or 1999 something like that. In that time I have posted two vanities. I think they serve a valuable purpose however they should be few and far between.

The thread got hijacked by some determined folks who demanded to discuss Cessationism (of miracles etc) that they believe stopped in one person's case with Christ's Resurrection and in another when John The Beloved put the last letter to the last word in the last sentence in the last chapter of Revelation. Then they had the audacity to hit and run when I finally relented to presenting Scriptural based reasons their cessationism was hogwash.

What idiocy. Most do not even realize he's wholesale eager to rush the process of surrendering the USA to the satanic world government spoken of so clearly in The Bible. He even openly, brazenly speaks of submitting, turning over the USA military to the UN! To the UN!!! The 'great' folks who brought us the oil for food and other scandals!
And Shrillery Clinton is waiting in the wings with even a fiercer Communist allegiance and eagerness to do the same. Add in Scuba Teddy and much of the Senate; all the big media orgs and leaders except maybe for parts of Fox . . . it's NOT a pretty picture.
Many people ARE insuring that their mountain cabins are stocked and as ship-shape as possible.
It could be easily likely that bicycles will be the only viable transportation for masses of people sooner than we think. It could easily be that a depression will descend on the world that will make the 20's and 30's look like a picnic.
AND THE REALITY IS THAT THESE SCENARIOS ARE JUST THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG. This is just summarizing the fairly obvious. The deeper undercurrents, the real hidden conspiracy stuff would REALLY scare you. I won't even go there.
Relax. Be happy. IN THE LORD.
