As an unapologetically pedal-to-the-metal, knuckle-dragging Calvinist Dispensationalist Fundamentalist Christian, I would have to say that any Christian who doesn't vote for Bush because the Cheney's have a lesbian daughter, or even (at worst) because they're morally and spiritually tone-deaf on the issue, is an idiot.

"Ignorant" would be far too kind a word.

Perhaps that is what she was saying?

I know exactly who the Cheney daughter comment is aimed at. It's aimed at my CHRISTIAN traditional conservative Democratic family members in N. Carolina and others like them.

They are in real turmoil over all of the moral issues they have to ignore in order to vote Democrat. The best argument that can be mustered for their protection has always been to say to me: "The Republicans do it to."

Abortion, family, self-protection, patriotism, etc.....they always say to me. You've got Republicans that do that, too. (Anything from adultery to support for abortion.)

The gay marriage amendment was a quandry for them EXCEPT now Kerry has pointed out to them that they can say, "See...Republicans do that, too."

So they now convince themselves that these guys all believe the same things and would do the same things and there's no difference.

The big difference for them: Grandpa always said to vote for Democrats 'cause they're for the little guy.

In other words, their voting habits are a type of ancestor worship.

Speaking of ignorance, last night I heard Dr. J.P. Moreland mention that the famous atheist, Anthony Flew, shed his igorance and has become a believer in God.
