Integrity!Integrity!Integrity!

Hi, I have thought about this all night, John Kerry said his mother taught him integrity! integrity! integrity! well I'm curious as to what she taught him. I was taught and taught my children (I'm in my sixties)that integrity is one's ability to take responsibility for their Principals and ideals (values and standards that we set for ourselves) It is an element of our character. People with high principals and ideals set standards that they live by. Examples: honesty, Not hurting others, your word is your bond, stealing etc. For instance if you have a principal that stealing is wrong then a person of integrity would not lower their standards to approve of stealing for another person. To do so demonstrates a person with low character and lacks integrity. Senator Kerry's, deliberate attempt to steal the identity of the Vice President's daughterand use her vulnerability in the hope of gaining points shows a man of low character and a lacking in integrity. He obviously has no principals or ideals, especially in his willingness to hurt those he finds in a vulnerable position and can't speak for themselves as in the Presidential Debate. (He attempted to steal her identity for use against her parents) A person with low principals and ideals does not have integrity. He lacks the ability to be responsible for his principals and ideals because he doesn't have values and principals. You can't have a principle of attacking the vulnerable as there is no way to be responsible for the impact. The same is true for his attacks on the Swift boat veterans and our P.O.W.'s. There by I can only conclude that John Kerry is a man with low or no principals/ beliefs, or ideals. the same is true on his explanation for his faith/ belief on abortion and gay marriage. The character of the man is his ability to live his principal and ideals and not lower his standards, integrity is taking responsibility for those principles. Spontaneous responsibility is a better word as it shows that integrity is you. Tell me where I am wrong? Maybe we all need to look to ourselves and ask are we lowering our standards in this wonderful country because we lack the ability to be responsible for our principals and ideals. If I am right this truly is a sad day.

Welcome to FR. Please don't start a thread with short statements of opinion or questions (otherwise known as "vanity" threads) - instead, please find a relevant thread already underway and post your comments there. Thanks.

There is a difference between "principal" and "principle".

Paragraphs make your writing easier to read.

The old lady didn't say "Integrity".

She said "In Ted we trust."

Classic!!!  Simply Classic!!!  An idea wanders across your brain, so you use your brand new, run up to the election profile and post a rambling, vaguely reasoned screed with some typos and no formatting.

Awesome!

Seriesly, you should maybe sit on the side for a while, get the feel of things, before jumping in.

This is such an odd story. It is as if Kerry's mother spoke to us from the grave and confirmed our misgivings about his character. Most mothers would congratulate and encourage a son who came to them with the news that they were embarking on an ambitious career move. Instead, Kerry's mother chided him-- integrity, integrity, integrity. It indicates that she knew her son and knew his weaknesses. She had tried to teach him the meaning of integrity all of his life, but he had not learned. She was still trying on her death bed.

It mustn't have been easy being his mother.

First of all, a mother who raised her son properly would never have to command her adult son to remember to have "integrity, integrity, integrity."

Didn't she trust him? Didn't she think her son already had integrity??

Somehow I don't believe a sick, dying hospitalized mother would be so consumed with instilling her son with advice, unless she already had doubts about what is already in his heart.
