Weirdness in Kentucky The increasingly strange behavior of Republican Sen. Jim Bunning has led to speculation that he is suffering from some kind of dementia -- and tightened a race he once had in his pocket.

Oct. 12, 2004 | It's no secret in Kentucky that Sen. Jim Bunning, a Republican who was expected to coast to reelection on Nov. 2, has been acting strangely. Over the past few months, Bunning has angrily pushed away reporters, exchanged testy words with a questioner at a Rotary Club and stuck to brief, heavily scripted remarks at campaign events, delivered in a halting monotone. The former major league baseball star now travels the Bluegrass State with a special police escort, at taxpayer expense. His explanation? Al-Qaida may be out to get him. ...
There's a letter to the editor in the latest Atlantic Monthly, from a doctor, contending -- seriously -- that Bush might have some form of premature dementia. Some leftists have also said that Zel Miller has dementia. Seems this has become a favorite weapon in the Left-wingers'arsenal.
The last hope of the Democrats appears to be to try to convince the public that Republicans are crazy and you are, too, if you vote them.
Good luck with that.
heck, we might win the Senior Citizen vote over this. LOL!
Robert Byrd
they used to say that all the Republicans were buffoons....let's see Ford, Bush, Bush, Quayle, and so on. guess they think they wore that stereotype out.
I can't wait to hear another story about him and his dog Billy!
Jacoby can kiss my a--. She has absolutely no idea what she is talking about.
"and tightened a race he once had in his pocket."

Bunning hasn't been below 50% or had less than a double digit lead in any independent poll.

When Kerry does that, it's a good thing...
Throw mud and some is sure to stick. We know RATS have no honor and will try anything, but you'd think in wartime that they'd have some sense of decorum and honesty, what's best for the country and our safety. But no, it's the same old same old.
For my wife and me, Billy Byrd is a key part of our lives at the Byrd House in McLean. He brings us great joy and wonderful companionship. As I said on this floor just a few months ago, if I ever saw in this world anything that was made by the Creator's hand that is more dedicated, more true, more faithful, more trusting, more undeviant than this little dog, I am at a loss to state what it is. Such are the feelings of many dog owners. Dogs have stolen our hearts and made a place in our homes for thousands of years. Dogs fill an emotional need in man and they have endured as our close companions. They serve as guards and sentries and watchdogs; they are hunting companions. Some, like Lassie and Rin Tin Tin, have become famous actors. But mostly, these sociable little creatures are valued especially as loyal comforters to their human masters. Petting a dog can make our blood pressure drop. Try it. Our heart rate slows down. Try it. Our sense of anxiety diminishes, just goes away.
Recall in the former USSR that disagreement with the Party meant you were demented or insane....
