(Vanity)Why are the Christopher Reeve threads locked or pulled?(Vanity)

Just a quick question to the Moderators. Why was the Christopher Reeve thread last night pulled after 400+ posts? And why was today's thread locked after just 5 posts?
It sucks to be involved in a discussion and then have the thread pulled or locked, with the reason being, "Pulled" or "Locked". I understand you guys have a job to do, but can't you type in a few more characters to give us a "Why" it was pulled. I mean, there's a place for "Reason" there anyway, why not use it?

I'll probably be zotted for questioning the wisdom of the moderators, but I'd really like to know.

It helps to direct the question to the Admin Moderator.

A handful of disrespectful FReepers were taking it on themselves to be total jerks.

Apparently a few posters were pretty hateful. It got out of hand.

There are presently at least two active CR threads.

My sense is that they don't want to give Democrat Underground any ammo.
Christopher Reeve should rest in peace and so should those threads.

From the number of deleted posts it looked bad. The Moderators probably dropped from exhaustion.

Other FReepers have already provided the reasons. We don't need to show that type of disrespect by a few posters to the world

My post was pulled for suggesting Reeve's death would be exploited politically by Lurch.

Or DU trolls?
I saw some of that traffic, and wasn't convinced it was
stereotypical sign of the mythical Paleocon Horribilis.
Since Kerry is already politicizing the CR demise, I'm
wondering if an actual cause of death has been announced.
To: birbear
It started last night, when news of Reeve's death was first posted on FR. The thread went from sympathetic to nasty in less than five minutes. At least two "freepers" were banned over their comments.

I suspect you're right. DU is aware that Free Republic has been cited by some news organizations and would probably love to make us look bad by posting spiteful comments and then making them as public as possible. I say good for the moderator - there is too much room for abuse and "democrat fraud!"

Thanks to all.
It seemed like it was a very small minority (only 4 or 5 posts out of 400) that were "hateful".
Comparitively speaking there seem to be at least 400 "hateful" messages directed about Hillary Clinton's size/dress/etc on any given day, but those never seem to get pulled.
Not that I'm any fan of Hillary Clinton, mind you. It just seems there's a bit of a double standard at times when it comes to what gets pulled and what doesn't.
For the record... none of my messages on the CR threads got pulled. I'm just a curious Freeper.

And indeed it was exploited.
