Yes, I'm a "Newbee". But I have been reading Free Republic for almost a year now. I recently started posting. I want to be a part of this Blog but don't want to do as so many Newbee's have done and not follow the rules. I think I have a grasp on HOW to post and WHERE to post. My question now is about some of the terms used. Hence: Bump,Ping..ect. Is there a list's of Free Republic...or ANY "Blog terminology" I can go to for these questions? Thanks.
Welcome to FR.
there are a lot of inside jokes: "beeber" "This is HUGH!" "This is SERIES."
Don't know what they mean myself, but after awhile you'll find them funny. I know I do.
So what was the answer?
call the police, why didn't you call the police when you first saw it, etc etc etc....
Also, this is not a blog.
I think giving "grief" is the FReeper culture...
Its funny because of the repeated typos you see on FR (of which I am guilty, as weel). How seriously can you take something when the author screams "Its HUGH! This is SERIES!" I mean, that kind of thing just stunes your beeber.
"hugh" and "series" are simply making fun of how often people have misspelled "huge" and "serious"....As for "beeber"????

The best advice I can give you is to avoid liquids around your computer, especially if reading a post from Lazamataz.
This will help you avoid YOMANK's (You Owe Me A New Keyboard)
And, for your first few dozen replies, start everyting off with "KMA" and then your regular reply.
In the end, we deduced that the neighbor had merely found some indigenous source of giant monkey skulls, so everything was okay.
Back then, multiple posts of the same article was not that much of a problem and neither were vanities. I suggest that you do a thorough search before posting any articles. The search function is our friend. And avoid vanities. I think I may have had 2 since being here. Once was to report on a Lazio for Senate (when he ran against Mrs. Clinton) function I attended and the other was an article from a local paper that was not on line, so I had to type the whole thing.... Have fun but beware that it is addicting...
"Biscuiteater states that he has been on FR for one year. Just how long were you using FR before you became aware of the "culture". Should someone use FR for two, five, ten years before they are culture aware.
"
Uh, look at the date he signed up. Less than a month ago. How long? Until you no longer have to ask what a bump or a ping is, and until you know that FR is not a blog.
Well, he's been lurking for a year. I think that's long enough to start posting.
I've been here since 98 and still have my problems posting. Most people will be very helpful (especially moderators). sometimes it's best to just left the pros do it. They ususally get to your main concerns. My problem is I only post when my bloodpressure is reaching 200
This board is not public, it is private. It is owned by Jim Robinson and he decides what stays and what does not. Having something pulled is not a violation of the First Amendment. Learn that and get used to it, or find someplace else.
gotcha there - but the stuned beeber? what the heck is a beeber? (newbie alert!!)
According to emily Post, FReeping should never be done in clad only in one's underwear. And remember, mouse on the right, coffee cup on the left. You'll be ready for those 9,000 reply threads in no time. welcome.

Yes, that's what he says. How long did it take you to know what a bump was? A ping? How often do you refer to FR as a "blog?"
I'm sceptical.
