Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner there may wait...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I'm here, a little. Taking an anime-break from studying. I'm gonna have dinner soon... made crock-pot curry, wonder how it turned out.

Let me know how that turns out! Sounds intriguing.
I'm thinkin' of doing some sort of bean dish in the crockpot on Monday. I'd cook the beans ahead of time, of course, and then put them in there with a sauce to simmer all day. It'd be cheap, which is always good...
Especially when payday isn't until Thursday! I'm getting short on frozen meat, but I have enough for flavoring if it isn't the main meal component.
Dad just picked up my little sister, so I'm alone. Spent the whole day with her, which was good for both of us, I think. Sometimes I have such a hard time being patient with her, as I've mentioned before. But we had fun today!

I love episodes dealing with space-time anomalies, though Ugh. We do not. But only because they show up in *every* Roddenberry endeavor: DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, Earth-Final Conflict, Andromeda....
It's as stale as the "aliens trick your mind into thinking you're on Earth so they can learn about you" gimmick.

I haven't seen much except the original series, a little DS9 and the Next Generation...maybe I just didn't get enough to get burned out. ;-)
But...I'm also someone that can watch a movie over and over and over and still enjoy it. I'm odd that way.

Actually....the Evil OverToaster is a time travel device and the Pawnshop is a CrossRoad in Time.
And then the aliens can come through the pawnshop, spacenap Guido, and trick him into thinking he's still on Earth...

I like it!
Heh...I STILL say one of these years for NaNoWriMo, I'm gonna attempt to write a science fiction story that incorporates EVERY cliche in one story. It'll be magnificent! Or something.
Probably something.

Can I steal that for my Nanowrimo plot?
I can't decide what I want to write.

The curry was a little too mushy. Oh well! Next time I'll make it the normal way.
So, does your NaNo story have an overall plot, or is it just "diary entries"?
I've got a page of notes so far, on the beginning bits. Still have no clue about the middle, sigh.

I'm so fortunate to have married as big a scifi nut as I am and we've given all the Rodenberry series a fair shake. We really liked Earth: Final Conflict. It was the most original of his ideas. Andromeda is a close second for the same reason. But both became soap operas. EFC is cancelled. Andromeda got picked up by SciFi channel and committed the "Witchblade" suicidal plot maneuver: everything starts over 'cuz the writers wrote themselves into a corner.
We're really looking forward to Battlestar Galactica this winter. Will be nice to have a fresh storyverse to follow.

Just diary entries. Boring, I know. Plus I'll find a Mr. Right for her, so there'll be that.
But nothing much more exciting than that.
I still think it'll be fun, though. I plan on working in local characters (should be with a capital "C", some of 'em!) in various guises, and a lot of philosophical / poetical (is that a word?) / castles-in-the-sky ramblings.
