Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner there may wait...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Good morning!
Well...I slept in an hour. That was nice. Soon as it warms up just a touch and isn't so drippy with dew, I'm going to start digging and weeding and planting.
Then my littlest sister and I and one of her homeschooled friends are going to do some baking for Jim's birthday party tonight, then we're gonna go pick up a bunch of OTHER homeschooled friends from downstate (these are the ones who have two older brothers in Ft. Collins, Jen), and tonight we'll have a big ol' party. And hopefully have time to listen to the debates!

Good morning!
I have NOTHING to do today! Yipppeeee!
We intended to go on a field trip to a farm today, so the jedis and I have worked hard all week to get a day ahead in school...actually started last weekend, getting a bit done on the weekend to get ahead.
The field trip was CANCELLED! Found out yesterday. The boys took it all in good stride. Going to the fair yesterday more than compensated for the loss.
But now we have no school to do today! Whoohooo! A three day weekend!
To: 2Jedismom
Might as well go fishing then, 2J.
Good morning, everyone.

Hi, Rosie, I can't believe it's cold up there.
Our weather patterns are changing, but it hasn't cooled off a lot yet.
Was at figure drawing class last night, at least one artsy person there is not a liberal. OTOH, both he and his wife consider both Kerry *and* Bush to be socialists.
Interesting people, though, in their mid 70's, both got out of Romania 30 or more years ago when it was still behind the iron curtain (haven't heard that term for awhile) and came here. Both good artists, too.

Received via e-mail this morning:
John Kerry visits a school classroom where they are in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings. The teacher asks Mr. Kerry if he would like to lead the discussion on the word "tragedy." The illustrious Senator asks the class for an example of a tragedy.
One little boy stands up and offers: "If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a tractor runs him over and kills him,
that would be a 'tragedy.'"
"No," says Kerry, "that would be an accident."
A little girl raises her hand. "If a school bus carrying 50 children drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a tragedy."
"I'm afraid not," explains Mr. Kerry. "That's what we would call a 'great loss.'"
The room goes silent. No other children volunteered. Kerry searches the room. "Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of a
'tragedy?'"
Finally, at the back of the room, a small boy raises his hand. In a quiet voice, he says: "If your campaign plane, carrying you Mr. Kerry, were struck by a 'friendly fire' missile and blown to smithereens, that would be a 'tragedy.'"
"Fantastic!" exclaims Kerry. "That's right. And can you tell me why that would be a 'tragedy?'"
"Well," says the boy, "because it certainly wouldn't be a 'great loss' and it probably wouldn't be an 'accident' either."

mornin'
The Producers was a lot of fun. Typical Mel Brooks off-colorness, which is interesting when you're sitting in front of one of your Pastors.
Ruthy - try the couch. We once replaced a checkbook and paid for a library book that Jr. hid in the couch.
'nuther beautiful fallish day here. Hope to do some yard work tonite and get bulbs planted between rehearsals tomorrow. My Morning Glories are finally in full bloom (should've been in July)...
Speakin' of Jr., we're at our wits end. The message of no football obviously did ~not~ take. He was missing five Algebra assignments. So the teacher said he could turn them in late for partial credit. He showed us they were done. Tuesday I took him early to school to retake a test (that he'd flunked) and he was supposed to turn in the assignments. Teacher told me last night he got one. Jr. said "I gave him everything I could find."
30 minutes later the choreographer for our Christmas show tells us that she's impressed with how Jr. is a quick study and how she can tell that he's pleased when he gets it right...sigh...why won't this carry over to school?
We're running out of things to take away, and they're obviously not having an impact anyway.
Nana and the Therapist (hey maybe I should do NaNoWriMo...) are coming for a "home" visit today. At this point earliest she would come home would be the 18th. But wife will again point out that she can't come home and plan to stay downstairs all the time...
...specially since I'm still sleeping in the recliner downstairs. Tried actually going to bed last night, made it an hour before I woke up coughing.
It's going to be a long winter...

But other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?
Good morning. Thoughts with you today, but only brief chatting allowed, I am on my way out the door to Mordor. I'll see you all tonight.

Good morning! Remember that spider I was telling you about that was as big as my stretched-out hand? I found out what it was...a
Lycosa Rabidosa Rabida aka a Wolf Spider. Honest and I'm not stretching the truth...it hadta be six inchs across and that's being conservative, because I seem to remember it being even bigger, but it has been several years.
My dad got up and killed it, which I regret now.
