The Hobbit Hole XVI - Still round the corner there may wait...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner there may wait...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

They've been pelting the house for a couple of weeks now. Hard winter ahead?

Morning! I want pancakes too...

It's really sunny here today, a nice change from yesterday's rain. Thirty minutes to relax, and then it's running around until about 9, although from 7 onward it's just anime club and that's fun.

I wonder what that noise is... it sounds like my neighbor is playing a digeridoo (sp?) but I don't think that's it...

I have been meaning to get into it but don't have a shotgun yet. You like early morning walks. You should take up hunting yourself.

mmmmm....buttermilk pancakes.

We missed the story of how Steve hurt his ankle...how long does he have to be on crutches?

Thanks 2J for your prayers...they are very much appreciated!

I'm working with thegirl on a Christmas dress. We got it cut out yesterday and surged it. We'll probably sew a bit of it today. Sewing 101. :-)

I want to make baskets for Christmas for both of our families...gotta order the reed and pattern today. Also gonna enclose some of our tri-berry jam and a few other things in the baskets.

Gotta go and get thenewboy to bed and start school. Have a good day.

I'd be afraid to go alone, though! Plus I've no idea what to do with a deer if I DO get one...

But I'd really like to try bow hunting someday, at the very least. And someday I WILL learn to shoot.

Hmm, yeah, and she could just shoot her dinner as she's talking a morning walk. That works...

If I can get to know some places to hunt around here then I will definitely get into bow hunting. I have not shot a bow in ages. Well you will learn how to shoot at shootmoot if you don't get to it sooner.
