The Hobbit Hole XVI - Still round the corner there may wait...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner there may wait...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yay! Just went over 20,000 words for my story, which puts me about at the halfway mark, I think. Stuff's really starting to happen. Kewl.

And now...that means I can go to bed. Good night, all!

Nothing like looking at a picture of a few thousand galaxies to make Earthly matters seem small.

Sorry, just being spacey tonight.

ouch.

I haven't seen any special report on Beslan, but I don't need to, either.

I dunno if Putin had "got it" before, but he sure as hell has "got it" now. Even coldhearted KGB operators like Putin can see this and know that some line has been crossed. Say what you want about the KGB, but even in the cold war the soviets understood the honor of the warrior.

From my perspective in my day, the Soviet Navy was an enemy, but an honorable enemy. They were good sailors worthy of respect. I personally grieved for the loss of the sailors on the Kursk, as I would have for the loss of sailors on any American boat.

This new barbarian enemy deserves none of that respect. They kill children, and they kill *using* children. These are not human beings worthy of any sort of respect. They are mere parasites on the human condition.

it's sorta an inspirational book based on "Corin's World."

Well, the title "When Bad Things Happen to Good People" is already taken. ;o)

But... they don't have hearts. They only have those fleshy meaty things that make the sick fluid of their systems pump that alien sickness into their sytems....

Evenin' folks.

Just got back from a wonderful dinner at Mr & Mrs Sam Cree's house. trini was able to join us at the last minute and a GREAT time was had!

Sam - thank you ever so much for you and your wife's gracious hospitality. Dinner was delicious and your rum punch was fantastic!

trini and I went to Tex Mex Cafe right up the street and watched a few folks sing karaoke before I headed home. I'm dead tired and still a bit buzzed, so I'm off to bed.

I love you guys. (((Hobbit Hole)))

Glad to hear y'all got home safely! Enjoy the tea! I'm thinking I might make myself of cup of Sleepytime afore I head to bed. I thought I'd be fighting sleep on the drive home, but Clare and I listened to Tony Hillerman's "Listening Woman" on audiotape and it's a vey interesting story.

We had a great time at the mini-Vermoot. I'm glad Stephen was able to join us! The King Arthur Store WAS great, but a dangerous place for me! Too many cool baking things!

Mmm...chocolate...

Have you tried any of the dark chocolate you bought? I had some of the sugar free chocolate almond bark a little while ago. Yum stuff!! I had eaten one of the sugar free chocolate cashew turtles on the way home. It was yum, too!
