Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner there may wait...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Heh, I already looked it up. So now I not only know "gralloch", but also "offal". I just hope that knowledge did not replace something else such as the capital of Ethiopia.
"What is Addis Ababa, Alex"... I guess that tidbit is still safe.

Good luck today, ecurbh! And, hope you feel better, Hair.

I'll be praying for ecurbh's brain. Especially after reading what g'nad intends to do to him if he doesn't win! Yikes.

Is it just me or does that dog have large pink condoms hanging from its ears?

The thread is taking a weird turn so I think I'll talk to you instead...
Ugh, tired. Not enough caffeine yet. Oh well, today should be interesting. Boss is gone to Alaska for a week so it's the first day of us running the farm. Hehehe.

My boss is in Colorado this week!
Denver. For a conference.
And the person in charge of media equipment is in Arizona.
I just went to help someone set up a computer with a projector (which I ain't good at) and was told that our service is unacceptable and "disheartening" and not predictable and all kinda stufflikethat. I made some excuses...which I really shouldn't do. And I feel very inadequate right about now...

Bah. Ignore the heathens. There are a lot of people who assume if they can't do it, it must be easy, so seeing you struggle with it makes them feel superior. Nevermind that they couldn't do it at all...
I know what you mean, though, I get so sick of saying "I'm not the Unix tech, come back this afternoon and one of them will be in".

Well...the main thing he was upset about was that it took several tries to do everything, so he said it was appallingly inconsistant.
It's working. But I imagine that isn't the end we'll hear of it.
Grr...I'm NOT good with hardware, and I'd count this kinda stuff as that...

On the bright side, I'm hoping to hit 15,000 words today, which should put me at about a third of the way done, I'd say. Almost all characters are introduced, or at least have been referred to, and the story is set up. I'm hoping the next bit will be less tedious to write!

'Cause next time it might not work. And it's not acceptable to push technology in the classroom when laptops lock up sometimes and when it doesn't always read the DVD (I swiped it a coupla times on my jeans and put it back in and it worked...)

Congrats on the story! I have been writing "hooks" - setups or pieces of scenes that come later, so I can just pick a place and start writing.
I'd like to write, say, 20,000 words by the end of the month. Do-able.
