Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner there may wait...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

*sigh*
I think you're probably right. And seems like most of those civilizations experienced a steep moral decline toward the end...makes me wonder if we're teetering on the edge a bit.
But...I guess I'm ready for whatever comes!
And with that...I need to get to bed if I'm going to get up and walk!

Hey howdy Ruthmeister... I have no clue as to minidramas either... no time to look back.

You did? It must still be on vibrate.
I called you Saturday and the Missus told me you were in the Keys checking on things. It wasn't anything important though!
I was calling to see if you wanted to take a ride and meet me and trini at Black Point Marina. I'll give more notice next time, Sam...I promise!

Um... who's Yakov Smirnoff? Does he sell vodka?
Well. Midterm is postponed to Thursday; I'm not happy as it means an extra two sleepless nights. And no after-midterm party tomorrow.

It's a pendulum swing, but it swings farther each time in the direction of defeat while swinging less far in the direction of victory.
Frodo did not survive, the wizards and elfs left Middle Earth, and went into the West, eventually it became the time of the dominion of men, dwarves and hobbits are no more seen.
The US has been the only nation ever founded expressly on the ideal of individual liberty, despite the pendulum, we move ever leftwards and away from freedom.

He was a very popular comedian back in the 80s...mostly as the Soviet Union defector who loved to talk about the differences about living in the US as opposed to the USSR. Since the Berlin Wall fell, I dont guess he has made much of a comeback...pity...he was really good and charming.

Windows needs a kill -9. Well, yah... but then again it already does a few thousand things that users are simply not to be trusted with.
There was a certain value in the old days, when the average DOS user only knew on average: six commands. Problems were easier to fix.

Good motto!
Work has been particularly terrible these past few weeks. I know it goes in cycles though, so I'm hoping the slow season will kick in soon.
How's things at work for you?

No, I'm sorry I was away, it would have been fun.
Kids are coming in for a few days for a wedding we're all going to this weekend in West Palm, they'll be leaving after that.
I thought maybe next week after all that confusion is over, Jeanne and I could invite you here for dinner.

(Cut to corner of cinema. A man in an ice-cream girl's uniform is standing in a spotlight with an ice-cream tray with an albatross on it.)
Man: Albatross! Albatross! Albatross!
(A cutomer approaches him.)
Customer: Two choc-ices please.
Man: I haven't got choc-ices. I only got the albatross. Albatross!
Customer: What flavour is it?
Man: It's a bird, innit. It's a bloody sea bird . .. it's not any bloody flavour. Albatross!
Customer: Do you get wafers with it?
Man: Course you don't get bloody wafers with it. Albatross!
Customer: How much is it?
Man: Ninepence.
Customer: I'll have two please.
Man: Gannet on a stick!
